Brissie Recommendations for a young couple?

Hello!

Me and my partner are hopeful to make the move to Brisbane toward the end of the year- admittedly the recent activity means we are rethinking but thought we'd still put the feelers out there!

We were hoping to get some recommendations for some potential suburbs we could look into. Ideally we're hopeful for a nice 2 bedroom apartment/unit/townhouse as part of a nice smaller group, within an easy bike ride of the cbd (we both prefer cycling, which is something that has attracted us to the city!). Obviously anywhere with houses in that range would be a bonus. Price range hopeful for something around the mid 300s, but open to suggestions. We haven't spent a great deal of time in the Brisbane suburbs before and are making a few trips up in the next few months, so would love ideas for places we can visit to investigate in the meantime!

We are a young couple so things like schools etc are not high on the priority list just yet, but we are interested in places that have nice scenery, are fairly safe etc.

Thank you for any and all input :)

Well I currently live in Coorparoo which is only a few k's away from the CBD.There are alot of units and some townhouses in this area. However, I think you are going to have an extremely hard time finding a decent unit/townhouse in areas close to the CBD for the price you want. Brisbane isn't cheap unless you move way out of the city. However if your willing to settle in a much older style unit then you may find a place for that price.

Other areas to look into are (but some are still damaged from floods) Toowong, Taringa, Camp Hill, Greenslopes, Annerly, Holland Park, Indooroopilly.

If those areas are too exspensive I would look into Carina, Carina Heights, Carindale (might be abit pricey), Mount Gravatt East, Salisbury.

I agree Coorparoo is a great area I recently wrote an article about the suburb here:

If you are prepared to do some renovation work you can push in closer to the CBD, depends on how you define a lot of variables such as close to the CBD, and 'easy bike ride' :) If 350k is a top limit then areas 5-8k CBD for apartments are in play. Close to the CBD such as 2k or so there are some very nice areas, likely need to be thinking 400k and prepared to add value for a good 2+1+1 apartment.
