Safe family areas along the train lines?

Were thinking about making the move to settle in Brisbane. Want to start first with a rental then look to buy. Wed be first home buyers so would be wanting to look at more affordable neighbourhoods. Weve been renting in Bowen Hills for a while but feel its not a very friendly area to start a family. Also keen on the Brisbane city council purely because weve had bad experiences when we rented in Logan with the public transport and hospital out that way. Our dream checklist would be:
- An area well connected with public transport (ideally trains, second choice the SE bus highway)
-Easy access to CBD
- A nice sense of community & safe for families
- Kids parks & walking spots
- Some good cafes & places to eat
- Good school /pre school cachements, great area for kids (we dont know anything about schools in Australia)
- Newish / renovated homes
- Close to amenities like a shopping mall / supermarket / Drs office
- 2 or 3 bedroom
- Ideally a house, open to a unit/apartment

On a second note, are there areas of Brisbane you would not recommend for new families / not the greatest schools so we know what to look out for?
