Why is New Farm called "New Farm"?

Why is New Farm called "New Farm"? Anyone know why? Something to do with farming perhaps?

The area was used as for farming in the early years of Brisbane's history.

...And when it was developed, it was the new farm. As opposed to the old one, that is. ;)

And for the locals, Bowen Terrace was the track the convicts walked to the New Farm. Many a convict chain has been discovered in the yards of these homes over the years. The new farm was actually located along both sides of Moray Street on the high ground. New Farm Park itself was a swamp and It was not till it was drained in the 1860's that New Farm park was then made - first as a a race course then eventually a park (but it was never part of the farm).
