"Beautiful walks"

There are a tonne of beautiful areas to go to for a great walk. A lovely area to live, or even better to purchase an investment property.

Looking for a home in North Haven?

"A relaxed community where you feel like you're on holidays every day!""

Located a quick 20 minutes from the heart of Adelaide, North Haven offers the best holiday lifestyle for all types of families. A great selection of restaurants a walk away makes dining out so easy. All are very child friendly which is great. No need for a huge backyard here - there are many parks along the esplanade, with many more scattered throughout the suburb. A great environment for walking the dog with doggy-doo bags attached to most bins, and very conscientious owners to boot. No excuse to not exercise - the beach is at your doorstep, walking paths everywhere and strolling around the marina is always a pleasure. If you have children, there are numerous schools to choose from, great Kindergartens and lots of after school activities for them. A recent bonus is the huge park built at Pelican Point - open space, scooter tracks, climbing equipment, flying foxes - a child's paradise.
Once you've lived here, you will never want to live anywhere else!!!

"Buy now before it’s too late ! Best for young families in SA"

North haven is an amazing place to live so peaceful and picturesque, large plots close to the beach and semaphore.
Would recommend for young couples looking to buy a house for raising young children.

Gulf Point Marina precinct, North Haven is one of the prettiest spots by the sea anywhere in the world. It is Adelaide's best kept secret. We have traveled extensively overseas and visited a lot of seaside towns and marinas so we do have the experience to make comparisons. We love North Haven so much that we have lived here since 1998 and now own two homes in the marina precinct.

North Haven beach is gorgeous. You can fish off the rocks, whilst watching the ships sail into Outer Harbour; or walk on the sand and gaze blissfully at the Adelaide Hills in the background. It is very picturesque. A great way to de-stress.

North Haven is serviced by bus and train with a fast trip into the city only taking 30 minutes. The rail line is soon to be electrified. It is also easy to just walk out your door and board a cruise ship to take you to far-away places. The overseas passenger terminal has just been upgraded and the cruise ship visits are increasing every year.

North Haven's main shopping centre has: train station, Post Office, supermarket, butcher, bakery, fruit and veg shop, chicken/hamburger/fish&chip shop, deli, chemist, discount store, hairdresser, dentist, doctor, physio, etc. There is another doctors' surgery closer to the marina. A smaller shopping complex, The Gulf Point Centre, overlooks the water on the marina and houses the hotel with its bottle shop and a great restaurant. At this shopping centre there is also an Italian restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, and a deli/cafe where people meet and have breakfast by the water. The Gulf Point Centre also has a hairdressing salon, a shop that sells all sorts of things including stuff to sew with, and a beauty parlour for your nails, facials, and waxing. Yacht brokers also ply their trade at the Gulf Point Centre. The Beach Pit is also on the marina and beach side is a great meeting place. It serves meals during the day, but is closed in the evenings.

North Haven has a number of parks with picnic facilities and playground equipment. Every year the Carols by the Marina event is held in the park by the marina. The best recreation of all is watching the Port River dolphins when they make their daily visit to the marina to fish and to play.

What a place! It's fantastic!

"Shhhhh! Beach Front !!! Sleepy North Haven is ripe for the picking!""

North haven is one of those suburbs where as if time has stood still. There are little corner shops and the classic old petrol stations which are a thing of the past these days. Its adjacent the up and comimg Port Adelaide development and close to wonderful Semaphore beach. This is a well kept secret and once it takes off (Booming house prices) you will wonder why or what you were waiting for. I have lived in the Western suburbs for most of my life and have seen almost every other Suburb go off in value yet North Haven and a few others are just about ready to take off. Worth a visit and judge for yourself.

"Haven is ripe for the picking!""

Calling all yachtsmen! North Haven is the place in South Australia to park your yacht, with an extensive marina and many yacht clubs including the Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron.

Twilight racing meets are common, always followed by a BBQ and a beer or two back at the club.

The streets of North Haven are neatly organised, with perfectly neat and modern townhouse after perfectly neat and modern townhouse. Each garden is well manicured too.

It is a lovely area for retirees, looking for safe, quiet and protected living with all the fun and social interaction of the yacht clubs.

Just a 45 minute drive to the city, North Haven is a great spot to live.

"Adelaides best kept secret!!"

Would have to be one of Adelaide best kept secrets! Stunning marina environment with wide open spaces, a stunning beach, incredible Marina, and some great parks! It also has some really nice eating places with the best outlooks in Adelaide. Feels like a world away from the hustle n bustle, but is only 25min to the city.
About to get a huge economic boost with a new Waterfront Hotel coupled with ramp up of ship/submarine building activities on the other side of the peninsula. Do yourself a favour and check it out!

"Quiet suburb, close to beach great for family lifestyle."

Great suburb to live in - great for families, moved here 5 months ago won’t be moving again any time soon.
Can get home and play with the kids and dog on the beach. Living the dream ..
I’ve put some local things below which are also a bonus.

Attached to the marina is the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia, one of Adelaide's largest yacht clubs, and the Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron is close by in the Port River. Weekend racing and Twilight racing on Wednesday evenings.

Fishing charters operate from marina; public boat ramp alongside.

Surf LifeSaving Club located on Gulf Point Drive with club rooms, meals and gym.

Indoor swimming pool, club and gym close by.

North Haven has a number of parks with picnic facilities and playground equipment.

Two golf courses - 18 hole Golf Course in walking distance and Glanville Hall Par 3 Golf Course.

Close by along the coast are Largs Bay, Semaphore, Port Adelaide, Westfield’s West Lakes.
Great shopping, dining out, cinema, galleries, fishing, sailing, jet ski tours, kayaking in the mangroves, dolphin cruises, seahorse farm, maritime museum, train museum, community markets, fish markets, kiteboarding, bike tours, walking trails and tours, antiques, organics and much more.

"Seaside living still at affordable price. Get in while you still can."

One of the most hidden gems in Adelaide. With recent developments to port Adelaide this area really is a hidden gem. I am originally from the surrounding area and it’s a wonder how North Haven still falls in the affordable bracket for young families.
The area has big blocks and is close to the beach. The drive along the esplanade is one of the best in Adelaide and all the shops you could ask for are on your doorstep. (Bunnings is a bit further tbh but can live with that).
The area is quite and I have Been living here for around 20 years since the wife and I purchased our second property. The beach is always quite and one of the best (LHS) and also great to spend a day fishing along outer harbour watching the boats coming in. I’m partial to crabbing and there are some big blueys found here in the season.
Train takes around 35 mins on the express route to CBD and on the longer (more stops) 45mins. Travel time to CBD is around 30mins by car and this will improve when the expressway reaches the CBD on the northern connector.
Blocks are big , neighbours are awesome and the takeaways at the marina are pretty good. The new sail master is also a great place to dine with great seafood and usually at dusk dolphins can be seen when dining on the decking area.
Most plots have big sheds in garden for storage for your boat or cars, loading time from my driveway to the marina to water is around 10 mins.
Local ASC development near by is a great sign for the area with talks of a new marina based hotel, light railway and retail centre planned for the near future. When these have completed it will be all but to late to get into the area before prices will become unaffordable like other areas further south along the coastal region.
All in all I’m very happy to live here and will always recommend it to to others who are considering making north haven there home.
It’s quaint feel and disconnect from the main city is a great welcome to the end of the day on the tools.

"Beach side living at affordable price"

North haven is a great place to live.
beautiful area with its own marina. Great transport links to the CBD.
Ideal for young couples / professionals and families with children.
The area is peaceful and quite and short walk to its own beach.
Close to semaphore which has festivals and great cafe culture. Surrounding suburbs are being developed and Largs and semaphore have many colonial properties when the area was first settled.
Could do with a closer Bunnings but that’s about it. ;)
ASC is investing a huge amount of money in the area and after 2020 the area will be the go to area for these professionals when they kick off.
Amazing scenery and great for fishing and if yo have a boat most properties have big enough plots for a boat shed. We have and it’s a few minutes drive to the boat ramp to get on the open water to catch your dinner or soak up the sun.
Will be unaffordable In a few years so get in while you still can.

"Amazing suburb, great beach and marina. Hidden gem"

Quiet suburb located at the north western most point tip of the peninsula.
Great drive along the esplanade to reach north haven and lovely well kept houses awaits.
North haven has its own beach and great for watching some big boats coming into Adelaide along the break wall.
Great for bike riding along the beach front into semaphore / largs etc..
Very big sized house plots and most are well kept with mature vegetation surrounding them giving a very special feel to the suburb when driving through.
Easy access to the CBD via the metro or driving.
New improvements to the sail master restaurant at the marina.

"A beach suburb that is continuing to improve"

North Haven is a suburb that is close to the beach (albeit with a lot of seaweed presently) and is an affordable property if you're wishing for the lower end of budget regarding sea frontages. Depending on what your attitude is socially with others, I found the sailmaster and the subsequent marina around the area to be an amazing spot to have dinner with the family and explore their services. North Haven is very close to Semaphore that has almost everything you are after with regards to goods and services.

For young families, I would caution sending their children to the public high school Ocean View College as I have a few friends that have sent their kids there and have not had positive experiences. However, the area has playgrounds and plenty of areas for families to enjoy family time within. Victoria drive is a relatively easy road to traverse that has a lot of truck traffic on it and has one of the largest mobile speed camera presences that I have experienced in Adelaide. There are public transport options available with a train stop being central to most of the suburb but prepare for a lengthy commute in terms of Adelaide timing.

Great Points:
• Affordable beachside suburb
• Close to amenities and Semaphore

Good Points:
• Relatively peaceful
• Good community
• Goods and services are always improving within the area
• The best suburb of the bunch that are situated around North Haven with regards to socio-economic status

Bad Points:
• Victoria Road is a hike and has a large mobile police speed camera presence
• Although may not seem far away, you can feel the distance with the traffic as you traverse more central to Adelaide. Something to consider for those that commute centrally from North Haven. Taxi fare is between $50 to $80 one way.
• If you're young and want an active nightlife, North Haven is not for you

30 mins to CBD on train on express (8am) , 40 mins all stops.
30 mins drive to cbd
Taxi (Uber) 35-40$
Speed cameras everywhere

lydiaj4

As above -
30mins on train to CBD
25-30mins drive to CBD
(Quicker and more options now port expressway open)
Less speed cameras these days, more when the road changed from 80 to 60.

The beach is not covered in seaweed all the time, and the main seaweed part is down the very end.
The sand is white as snow, and the sunsets superb.

"BEST KEPT SECRET IN ADELAIDE"

Quiet, Quiet, Quiet, you can hear a pin drop, except for the sound of the waves when you're outside having a glass of wine and taking in the fresh sea breezes. There is hardly any traffic only local traffic and Sunday drivers looking for a house to buy so they too can enjoy the area. It is very safe and going for a walk is magic on summer evenings. Have been living in Gulf Point for 16 years and it is like living in the country within a friendly small community. We live in a court and it is very quiet and the Marina views are fantastic, especially at night and at Christmas time when all the marina lights are on and the whole place sparkles. The only time you have traffic is when the Cruise ships berth at Outer Harbor and it is great watching the ship from your top storey window. If you want tranquility and a holiday at home every day and fresh air then come and live here. This area is a hidden treasure and when more people discover this gem the area will boom. SO GET IN QUICK!!

"Posh and Snob"

To get to North Haven you'll have to drive past the drab suburb of Port Adelaide which is heavy in traffic during working days. You can utilise the area more if you've got a yatch - hey who's got a yatch unless you're a self-made millionaire! The seashore around North Haven is generally littered with seaweeds during summer and one has to walk towards Semaphore beach to have a swim and during the holidays this nearby suburb is crowded and noisy. The Foodlands at nearby Largs Bay had once been broken into.

Property in North Haven is still very reasonably priced. Most homes in the suburb do not have a water view and have the space for families. Of course the water view homes are more expensive but not all owners, including myself, are "millionaires", or even "semi-millionnaires". We have just worked and traded up to a water view. Water view townhouses are still available for under $500K. Naturally the bigger houses are a lot more expensive as they are anywhere. As a resident, I have never met any "posh and snobby" people here. I have found them to be quite ordinary, hard working people. Insurance companies will inform you that North Haven is one of the safest postcodes in SA - not a lot of crime here!

richardemsley

Hey, if you drive up the seafront as I do, you don't have to see Port Adelaide! I drive to work from North Haven to Henley Beach every day looking at beaches, sea, good quality housing, west lakes, palm trees & parrots - and with very low traffic!! Not bad for the stress levels!! North Haven beach may have seaweed from time to time, but it's still one of the best beaches in the western suburbs, has surf lifesaving cover all summer & a great safety rating.

margaretm

I wonder if Maximillan has ever been to North Haven. I's not expensive. Largs Bay has never had a Foodland. North Haven is a very friendly suburb.

The price of housing in North Haven is extremely fair. To live so close to the beach or on a marina anywhere else in Australia would cost you a small fortune. It is extremely affordable for the majority. The local shopping centre has just been renovated and is possibly the best on the peninsula. The drive from the city is stress free, with most choosing to drive along the esplanade from Semaphore South making it an absolute pleasure. Neighbours are friendly and talk to each other, kids have so much space to play, and dining out is so easy.

"Buy now before it becomes out of reach"

Everything they say is true!

I bought my house in Gulfpoint Drive in 1994 and every day I see the open spaces over the sea & sky, the sun come up and go down and say how lucky am I! I go for my morning walk around the marina and see dolphins swimming and feeding just feet away from me and it becomes magical.

I have living in many places overseas and on the sea but I think this is one of the best; it has all the elements of living on the sea & marina but without the crowded noisy beachside hustle. Its like living in the country but with the benefits of a city close by.

Adelaide Airport is 30 mins away by vehicle; travel by bus and train to the CBD is 30 mins with stations in walking distance.

Local shopping centre has Post Office, supermarket, butcher, bakery, fruit & veg shop, takeaway food, deli, chemist, discount store, hairdresser, dentist, doctor, physio, video.

Overlooking the water on the marina is the Sailmaster Tavern, bar, bottle shop and silver service restaurant, Italian restaurant, Chinese restaurant, deli/cafe, hairdresser, dry cleaner, beauty salon, yacht brokers and marine supplier.

It is an eclectic mix of heritage, maritime, lifestyle, arts, retaining the old, influx of the new.

"Shhhhh! Beach Front !!! Sleepy North Haven is ripe for the picking!"

"Paradise on Earth"

North Haven is close to Semaphore suburb which is noisy, crowded and littered during holiday period.

Maximillan

MarinaMagic: You obviously haven't travelled the length and breadth of Australia or you wouldn't have given a 5-star rating on this one! - have you been to NSW Southern Coast where the sand on its beaches are as white as powder? have you been to Whitsunday Island in QLD? Save your gushing breath until you've seen all these places.

I believe he is talking about a review of SA suburb in terms of SA - Ive seen these places quotes above and swam in the waters surrounding where you require to wear a stinger suit 5/7 months of the year (mandatory for tourist trips) to protect from jellyfish.
Semaphore is a 10 minute drive and from North Haven and is not littered with trash as quoted.
Id rather north haven than schoolies in Gold Coast any day

"Lovely living by the marina for retirees"

Retirees with yachts? C'mmon, you've got to be a millionaire to retire over there!

allen-r

Prices are around 650-700k $ for a sea view / marina view house with marina berth.
Houses more inland range from 450-650k (size depending)
5 mins drive to boat ramp from mine and I am no millionaire (20mims Im unloaded/ parked and In the water) max is obviously not from the area with no real facts or an idea of the area.
