Restaurants in Port Melbourne

For a nice night out, try C'est Bon French restaurant at the top end of Bay Street (near City Road). Classy without being stuffy and traditional French meals like French Onion Soup, Bouillabaisse, Steak with Frites. Fantastic desserts :-) Probably should book as everytime we've been past it's packed. Has a mention in the Age's Good Food Guide.

Also have had many meals at The Rose on Bay Street. Modern Greek food. Really large hearty meals.

Ill have to check it out next weekend vicpow. I went down to Waterfront Place on Sat night and had dinner at Campari. Was fantastic food, and great service, highly recommended.

I find it hard to get good greek food in all of melbourne after having been to Greece myself. I find it all too greasy here, and not not much in the way of "freshness" Ill have to check out the "The Rose" you mentioned.

The Pier is always good for a meal! And for private parties.

Another good restaurant is The Graham (in Graham Street). It's a former pub but is a fine dining restaurant with a great wine list and a wine bar. It's been mentioned in the Qantas magazine and I think it has One Hat from the Age's Good Food guide. It has a private dining room and does functions as well.

Hi guys,

I thought I would revive an old thread as I've been to most of the restaurants in Port Melbourne since I've moved in a little under a year ago.

Waterfront is fantastic if you like seafood, you really can't go wrong. Fantastic decor, great to take a girlfriend on a romantic date.

3 Station Pier is really nice as well. Very cosy, has a nice fireplace and a well rounded menu. Fantastic deserts as well, I recommend the chocolate fondant or the crème brûlée.

Campari I've been to a few times, and don't really like it much. I thought the service was pretty average and the food was so so.

The Pier is really nice actually, kind of a surprise every time I go there for dinner. Fantastic menu, great food with so much to choose from. A little lower key than down at Station Pier but great nonetheless.

Sloaney Pony is average in my opinion. I went there on a Tuesday night and the atmosphere was really bad. No one was there and it killed the meal. Food was ok, but I didn't like it for the atmosphere.

Omah's malaysian is FANTASTIC and I always love eating their takeaway. Always nice to eat at for dinner, and I recommend the Five Spice Calamari wholeheartedly.

So keep up the list guys, give up your opinions on the restaurants in the Port Melbourne area. I know there is a brand new restaurant that has just re-opened on the corner of Beach Street and Nott Street which used to me called Il Divo (I think). So be good to see how nice it is? If anyone has been, would love to hear if it's any good.

I've been living in Port Melbourne for two years now and Dalmatino would have to be my favourite - great food, wine and service. Would highly recommend their fish of the day - it's always fresh and healthy.

Hi GinnyM,

I've been to Dalmatino and I must admin the menu didn't really take me. HOWEVER what I did order was sensational. Sometimes menu's don't sound great, until the food is sitting in front of you, and then you realise the description didn't really do the food justice.

I do want to try it again though, I might when summer kicks in.

Hi guys,

I just tried the new HollyHock restaurant down near the water and it is fantastic. It's only just opened and has replaced the old Campari, which was pretty bad imho.

I had the dips as starter which were great, and then a traditional chicken pizza which was fantastic as well. So give it a try!
