Reviews on good family areas in GC

Hi, were thinking of moving from Sydneys North to Gold Coast, I would love some feedback on what are the best suburbs for families that have trendy shops and not to far from the beach but also I would like some privacy and a backyard for the kids. Also some good primary schools? I have three kids 9,6,3 so good schools and safe area is a must.
