Russell island local info needed

I'm looking at buying on Russell island so sorry in advance for all the questions. Just wanting to know a few answers to.....what the 2020 current council rates and water rates cost? Do they have unleaded 95 or 98 petrol on island? How much does it cost to keep a car on mainland in secure carpark? Do places like Kmart or Bunnings, super mart deliver to island n what is the estimated delivery cost? How much for 4 cylinder car rego n estimated costs for insurance n house insurance is it same as on mainland or cheaper? I see U have ferry, barge, drs, iga, chemist, dentist on Macleay and Woolworths do delivery to island. Free transport for kids going to high school. NBN on Russell due to be completed in june. Weekly council bin collection and septic sewers. Is there anything else I should be aware of, apart from the midgies thanks?

Always pays to ask the questions so you know, rather then wonder or blunder!
Rates vary a bit but a basic block is around $450/ quarter. Water is a similar price to the mainland. No petrol other than 91 sorry, and diesel. A secure carpark on the mainland is around $1000/year but shop around the private ones in walking distance to the ferries. The likes of Kmart and Bunnings do not deliver but there are a couple of good daily island transports that charge in the order of $80/pallet depending on quantity. Rego is the same except if you get island rego which restricts you to the bay islands with the occasional, pre-approved trip to the mainland, it is about half price of normal rego. House insurance is around the same as mainland but you need to shop around.
I think that about covers most what you asked. As to what else, nothing jumps out at me. Groceries are a little more expensive but if you keep an eye on the specials, it works out fine. Our fuel is a complete ripoff usually something like 30c/litre more than mainland prices.

Good luck with your research. FD
