I wish they would add a timestamp, but websites be websites.
Southport is just a mess. Keep your doors and windows locked, and keep your eyes down. Too many junkies, ice heads, and stabbings.
Just last week my sister was just driving to work and had idiot high as a kite just come up to her car and try to get into it and rob her, then after she pulled out her hatchet and gave him a bit of a threat, he got out slowly and just walked off like nothing happened. There is more ice being sold and taken than a 711.
And labrador is no better, it's dubbed "Stabrador". But as long as you can hold yourself up to some smack head that tries to break in and threaten you with a needle; they a really peaceful places to live. And I love it here. My grandmother lives down the road and hasn't had a mugging in a long time. (Not by her, but at her)

For me, it has a similar feel (day time) to Kings Cross in Sydney. But the courthouse is there, so you'll find all sorts in the area for that reason. It's also got a history for being the rougher part of the GC. Yet...You'll also find the best private school on the GC there, so go figure... I've never had issues walking through there, but it's def a suburb where you want to hold onto to your kids and handbag a bit tighter. The Chinatown side is safe I've found.
