I have heard Apex gang has been building their presence in Tarneit. Is this correct?

I am thinking about buying in Tarneit but recent news of rising Apex (and other South Sudanese) gang activity in the area has got me thinking. Is this fear baseless or should I avoid the area?

Its looking like it. Just google search gang crime tarneit and you get heaps of hits.
