I lived in Chelsea for a few years and commuted in and out of the city every day for work. I found it was always really good for public transport. It takes about 45 minutes on an express train to Flinders St at peak hour both ways. You won't get much better in terms of housing affordability, a bayside location and proximity to the city (31km) than Chelsea! There are also numerous bus routes through Chelsea- one to Dandenong and another all the way to Airport West.

I'd describe Chelsea as an up and coming neighbourhood that is getting increasingly popular with young families and young professionals buying their first homes.

The highlight amenities and features that attract people to Chelsea include:
Chelsea Beach- very picturesque with beach boxes dotted along, a pier and the surf isn't too strong so it's safe for kiddies!
Cafes & restaurants dotted along the main strip on the Nepean Hwy- great for brunch and too many takeaway options to list. There's also a Cheesecake shop & gelateria.
Everything you need shopping wise- Woolworths, NQR, op shops, butchers, two bakeries, a pet shop, newsagent, chemist, $2 shops, three hair salons & a jeweller. But you're not too far (20mins drive) from Southland Westfield if you crave bigger stores like Myer, Kmart and Village Cinemas.
Parks & recreation- There's a local football & cricket club, tennis club, community garden, bowling club and pony club. Bicentennial Park has a great playground, skate park, dog park & BBQ facilities, extensive walking and bike trails around Edithvale Wetlands, bird watching and there are several gyms.
Fantastic schools- St Joseph's primary, Chelsea primary and Chelsea Heights primary is 5 mins away. Cornish College is just down the road too. There are two dance schools and a karate school. You're only 10mins from Monash Uni Peninsula campus.

There's a country club with golf course in the neighbouring suburb Bonbeach and you're only 30mins off wineries in the Mornington Peninsula.

All in all, Chelsea is the whole bayside lifestyle package!

I grew up in Clyde on a farm. Over the past 10 years I have watched the huge growth in the population of Clyde with new estates and new homes popping up all over the 'Clyde corridor'. Early on land was reasonably priced, but it has gone up in recent years where you pay more for smaller lot sizes probably due to the suburb neighbouring the more prestigious postcode and amenities of Berwick.

Clyde is a good spot for young families who can't afford to buy in Berwick and don't want to live in Cranbourne or as far out as Pakenham. You're close to the many top primary and secondary schools in Berwick. Fountain Gate in Narre Warren has decent shopping and also has a Village cinemas, it's about a 15 min drive from Clyde. There is no public transport at all in Clyde at the moment. Closest is Berwick station- about 10 mins drive.

However, peak hour and school pickup traffic is a nightmare. With seemingly never ending roadworks happening on Clyde Road because the 2 lane road can't handle the volume of new residents that need to use it daily.
