"Private people."

I live here now after leaving public housing. PEOPLE stick to themselves, do not gossip and are polite. There is a huge shopping centre with all you need.THERe are many doctors and health professionals. A big train station is there with routes in multiple directions. The rents are reasonably priced and it is culturally diverse. VARIETY OF FOODS ...

"All that glitters is not gold."

5 months there and I left. BEAUTIFUL BEACH .Love the feral foxes and sunsets on rhe beach..Beware of the many public housing tenants on Portland Cres. And parts of Malabar Road. Private residential tenants are nice. Mostly young population... Expensive rentals in the private sectors.

Gosford

"Rubbish people escaping Sydney"

Mediocre. The beautiful beaches will not feed you or provide you with intellectually stimulating company. I see dead shits picking up cigarette butts off the ground here regularly. Never saw it in Newcastle and once in Sydney in many years. . I have been ripped off 3 times by low lifes here. The people are lacking in quality. The environment is pleasant enough. I cannot even find a shoe repairer in Gosford city itself yet they have ten real estates. If you do not have a car think twice. Everything has moved to Erina.

Are you kidding?? Most of Newcastle makes Gosford look like Double Bay.

Not Adamstown.A beautiful place and the coasts are superior.

Adamstown is not beautiful in the slightest and is also not on the Coast. Adamstown is still full of horrible little Fibro cottages. Adamstown Heights is OK and is close to nice suburbs like Merewether (non houso bits) Dudley and Whitebridge.

Most of the Jetsam is from Sydney or Newcastle.....the amount of times you read about crime and the person was not from the Coast is probably 75%. Gronks like Katrina are soon found out.

Deception Bay

"Caught between a rock and a hard place"

D"Bay-It has a high level of unemployment.I have seen 2 jobs advertised in the local paper in 4 months. If you do not have your own transport do not move here. The public transport is lousy.3 buses to get to North Lakes from bay View Terrace.
There is no night life and the no little variety in restaurants. There are many housing commission places here which reflects in the nature of the people.Friendly but down on their luck/many.Some affluent people here too.The bay itself is beautiful and fore shore trees but that is it's only asset. Great place to retire or single mums.Nothing else. There is some dishonest real estate man trying to push prices up here lying about the place maybe as well.No names can be given.

Not great for

  • Vandalism in some areas
  • Some streets have teenage "boredom" issues but only a small % of the area

If you hate it so much why don't you make yourself happy and move somewhere else? I LOVE DECEPTION BAY. Myself, hubby, 4 yr old and 2 year old moved here last week. We couldn't be happier. Lived in Sydney for 9 years. Soooo expensive to buy so we moved to Perth. All we could afford in Perth (I don't want to go back to work until my kids start school) was a small 3 bed ground floor apartment with a tiny 91 Sqm fake grass garden (classed as huge in Perth) with heaps of neighbours able to look down into it and we were a 20 min drive to the beach. After 2 years in Perth I still could not fall in love with it and found it very far from anything, spread out and although we made great friends there, we just wanted a better lifestyle for our kids. For the same price tag as our apartment cost in Perth we now have 5 bedrooms on a 600 sqm block with a POOL and lovely kitchen, decking, garden with real grass, lovely bathroom, LUG for 2 cars and 3-4 more uncovered, a huge man shed, 2nd toilet, separate laundry, solar panels, water tank etc etc. Our kids Love the freedom and their new bikes. All our neighbours seem nice and quiet so far. Neighbours older Kids play on the safe street on bikes/skateboards/scooters. WE CAN WALK TO THE BEACH IN 6 mins!!! Play Park at the end of the road. 5 mins to shops, freeway etc. You would be crazy not to Live here with the low price tags in my opinion. Everything is so green and fresh. I love it. So glad we bought before everyone realises there are no other places so inexpensive for such a lovely place close to the Ocean. Everyone we have met so far have been so friendly and helpful and A huge thanks to Lydia at RayWhite for all your help and advice. :-) LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT!

Hi Geri. We're thinking of buying a house in DBay soon, north I think? Not from the the deception bay rd exit off the Bruce highway. Don't know much bout the area other than negative hearsay from a lot of people who don't live in the area. Just wondering what area of deception bay you live in?

Just moved to Deception Bay from Stafford (approx. 11km from Brisbane CBD) in March 2017. I absolutely love it here, very quiet, super friendly neighbours and so much close by (North Lakes, Motorway, Woolies etc.).
We moved in just behind Deception Bay Rd and even though we're right next to a main Rd, it's surprisingly quiet as the Rd is probably about 10m from our back fence. We're just down the Rd from the entrance to the motorway so it's very convenient. I guess we'd be on the edge of D-bay which is probably which it's so quiet. Also just down the road from a vet and Police Station.

After living in Stafford my whole life, it's a very welcome break from the busyness of being so close to the city. Also we had A LOT of crime in Stafford, more notably across the street from our old place so nothing will shock me here! Although I'm yet to see anything untoward. Overall I freaking love D-Bay!
