Windsor

"Great lifestyle"

Windsor is located at the southern end of Chapel street, walking distance to an abundance of restaurants, cafes, pubs, retail stores, cinema etc. Also walking distance to Fitzroy St. St Kilda, the beach, Albert Park lake and an easy bike ride to the city or along the foreshore.

There are many transport options available with Windsor train station located on Chapel St. The train to the CBD is very frequent and a short ride. The Sandringham line is the safest in Melbourne. Numerous trams run along St Kilda Rd. or a cab fare is around $18. You really dont need your car if you live around here, everything you need is walking distance away. I have walked night, day around the area and have had no problems with safety. Many people like to walk their dogs in the evening and the council is spending lots of money upgrading all the parks and playgrounds. For example, Council is spending $60m to build a park/plaza in Cato Street.

The area is great, the people are nice and I find that Windsor is laid back has a cool vibe.

Henry Street

"Fantastic position"

This street is quiet, centrally located and within easy reach of the Windsor train station, Windsor Castle Hotel and there is a huge park at the end of the street. The park at the end of the street provides some nice greenery in this urban inner city locale, but most importantly, means that Henry Street is not used as a thoroughfare from Chapel Street by car. Henry Street is walking distance to Chapel St. precinct, Albert Park Lake and Fitzroy Street in St Kilda..

Little Smith Street

"Very cool and happening"

Up and coming area, lots of people come to hang out and the area is buzzing with the nightlife. Lots of professionals and couples living in the area, there are cool apartments in heritage buildings or warehouse conversions. The cost of these apartments are now very expensive, and the rent in the area is also very expensive as people want to live here.

There are the occasional beggars and weirdos outside the safeway/tab but that adds to the character. That said, the area is VERY safe. I have caught the tram to/from the city and it is safe at any time of day or night.

There are some stores on Smith St. that are vacant so once the area is developed this area will take off further. For now, there are different restaurant options: vegetarian, peking duck, vietnamese, Thai, etc. There are also numerous factory outlets at the northern end of Smith St. The CBD is also walking distance away as are the Fitzroy Gardens.
