Cromwell Rd

"Leafy retreat right next to Chapel"

Cromwell road is a quiet street just off Malvern road about two hundred metres from Chapel street, consisting primarily of inoffensive medium-density housing. The street itself is leafy, green and mostly clean, aside from the occasional pile of hard rubbish left by vacating tenants. Hawkesburn station sits about a two minute walk around the corner, from which a train will get you into the CBD in about ten minutes.

Cromwell's close proximity to Chapel comes with all of the obvious benefits, the only detraction being the inevitable expansion of your waistline due to the plethora of gastronomic options available at all hours of the day. Telecommunications infrastructure is also sound, with the Toorak exchange less than 2km away you can probably expect ADSL2+ speeds of roughly 16-20Mbps depending on your provider.

Great for

  • Close to Chapel Street
  • Excellent nightlife
  • Quiet

Not great for

  • Poor on-street parking

FYI, Cromwell road is not even leafy. If you want to see true leafiness in Eastern Melbourne, go to Rochester road in Canterbury. You will be impressed.

"Best spot in Melbourne for backpackers"

Awesome relaxed beachside suburb with bohemian attitude. Hosts probably the highest density of backpackers in Vic during summer- be sure to visit O'Donnell Gardens right outside Luna Park on a Thursday evening in the warmer months for the weekly drum circle celebration and market.

Great for

  • Bayside lifestyle and great Night Life

Not great for

  • Bad parking
  • Harmless Drug Culture
  • Heavy Traffic
