"First Impressions"

I've lived here for about 6 months now and my overall first impressions are good :)

I live about 10 min walk from the train station where there is a doctors, chemist, convenience store, great fish'n'chips and a little further down the road there's currently an Indian restaurant, great sushi, nice hair dressers and a reasonably priced petrol station. There aren't any major shops in the area but nothing is more then a 15min drive away; 5min to the Coles or Wollies, or even better, near the intersection of Beenleigh and Logan Road there is a really good butchers and Vegi shop.

As for the community - they're a quiet bunch with a couple of kids and a few dogs about. There always seems to be something happening at the local school or park giving me the sense of fun community spirit.

Great for

  • Nice and Quiet
  • Train Station near by
  • In between Garden City and Logan

Not great for

  • Not walkable to the Grocery Store

Forest Lake

"A review from young eyes"

I have lived in Forest Lake since I was 7, I'm now 23.

The shops are good and still growing, lots of paths for walking, a dog park, two public ovals, fireworks on most major events, both private and public primary and high schools, markets every sunday, public transport is constantly improving, easy enough to drive anywhere (have a choice of 2 highways) and the list goes on...

Getting to the city takes about 30 - 60 minutes to drive depending on your route and the traffic and public transport takes just over 1hr unless your on the express/rocket.

The one down side to Forest Lake - though it is great for families and the elderly, but there is nothing really here for teenagers unless they have friends also living in Forest Lake. I usually had to travelled to Indooroopilly to meet friends, go to the movies, go shopping for clothes; or to the Jindalee skate park to play; or Inala's library for researching school assignments.

The only thing that has changed since I wrote this back in 2010 was that there are no longer markets thanks to "Coles" & "Target" :(
