Merrylands

"A mix of good and bad."

-Joined the library, the librarian was very friendly and helpful and had a long chat; didn't rush me and was like talking to an old friend or neighbour or acquaintance, with a positive happy spirit.

-Met an Indian neighbour and her child who were nice too and had a chat asked questions and they talked about them living in the area saying everyone is friendly and it is safe.

-Hoon drivers revving their engines and speeding along the street, motorcycles; shouting of neighbours at night ; i am surprised how many speeding cars revving engines there are it doesn't take long before before you hear drivers revving and speeding they are quite common.

-Walking across the street two women in a car smile and say good morning to me as they wait for the traffic to clear, later on an elderly lady walking down my street says good morning too.

-There were a lot of drug addicts around the streets and rough people; when waiting to cross the pedestrian crossing the cars do not always stop for pedestrians; so many hoons revving engines and playing loud music and speeding; I got stared at a lot for no reason, the person i was with in Merrylands with said she witnessed through the day that people were often staring at us as though we were not from around here and didn't belong and i noticed people looking at us and the next day too when i was by myself which was uncomfortable neither of us looked really out of the ordinary or whatever. So that makes you feel very uncomfortable and I would say to those who live in this area to think twice about staring and be kinder to others make them feel more welcome please.
I have known people on drugs or other problems in their life being part of a certain organization so nothing against people with an addiction etc, some of them have been my acquaintances or friends, but those around this area looked to be people to stay away from and when they looked at you it was of contempt and a bit frightening. The person who was with me on the day said one of the women seemed to be on ice.

-Most people were from overseas or cultural differences etc too but they didn't cause any harm or were bad people that I experienced although you may feel a bit out of place and like you are overseas yourself living or being here.
