Shepperton Road

"The road that never sleeps"

Never live on a main artery! Avoid all roads and train lines, no matter how badly you want a home. It's not worth it, especially in this market. Alot of hoons and double glazing does not eliminate the noise.

"Grew up then ran for it"

I grew up in "freo" spending 20 years bearing witness to the destruction of the vibrant tourist destination. I will forever sleep with ear plugs as a consequence and therefore search for that suburb that can provide a quiet, safe and friendly community as it's always been a messy place at night. Fremantle does not offer safety nor does it offer quiet and never has. Its a hostile ghetto that is heavily used as an open drug den. You can find deros, junkies and the in-betweeners sleeping wherever they drop. Feaces smeared on walls and not to mention the broken windows. A homeless person pulled their pants down in front of my 3 year old son and defecated in front of us, just 100m away from the police station on high street. I hate coming to Fremantle to visit family, as my hometown constantly gets worse. Nothing will ever change as a big part of the problem is political correct policies by the hipster mayor.

"Needs improvement"

High crime rate, avoid Brewer street and along or near the railway line such as West Parade, railway parade, Lord Street and Broome Street. Perth is just a messy place with rich, middle and the hopeless homeless people just trying to get through it. There is nothing more maddening then listening to a drunk rant and scream at the wind while doing something unmentionable against your fence. We hightailed after 6 months. Lesson; always try before you buy. Harder now days but still its not worth making one of the biggest purchases of one's life by blindly going all in. Perth sadly only has transport and close to work as its pro and the cons heavily out weigh convenience.

"Redneck wonderland"

Live in what seems like a convenient location close to the beach by car and you will become seriously disillusioned within the first week. It's full of the most disadvantaged people. This suburb is no different than Medina, Leda Callista, Rockingham etc. Avoid at all costs, it's a trap.

"Wait till the flight restrictions end!"

A nice distance from the city, with a vibrant vibe. It's an appealing suburb at first glance but that's the false sense of security taking hold. I lived here just before the pandemic. Jumbo jets roaring over head at least 25 an hour. Early wake ups at 3 for red eye flights. Yes its nice at the moment and once the travel restrictions lift anyone who paid the extra 100 thousand will be crying. Double glazing and lots of insulation and avoid Berwick street, McMillan street, Kent street and the other side of Albany Hwy. Can't wait to escape it when all goes back to normal. The rodents and cockroaches are vile and there is actually a serious problem with a particular demographic that makes going to the playground at john McMillan Park unbearable (next to east vic park library).

Hey Bella, thanks for your comment here, just wondering why you said McMillan is not good. Am new to Perth, and interested in a property in this street, thanks
