Re Previous comments on teenagers
Carrum Downs was traditionally Catholic church owned land which was supplied for working class families as affordable housing. These families now have a predominance of grown up teenagers looking for nightlife and something to do- and as we know Catholics (Im one of them) certainly had enough kids prior to the pill!. As these teenagers in turn start families of their own and grow up over the next 5 to 10 years the face of this suburb will change.. The houses in Carrum Downs and land sizes are reasonably large and the suburb is very attractive with lots of bush reserve, wildlife, trees and parklands. Accessibility to everything that counts is within 10 to 15 mins so overtime you should want for nothing if you own property in this suburb. It is a suburb that is trying to grow up and it is well placed to grow into an attractive and thriving community, Particularly as some of the ageing 70s/ 80s houses are replaced with modern ones over the next 10 or so years as home prices are not too far above land value alone. I beleive this suburb represents good value. The people lve met living in Carrum Downs are good hard working families / individuals and single mothers who happen to work as well. There arent to many doctors or lawyers living here that l know of but l havent met anybody who lives here who would be less than a pleasure to live alongside. Moreover why would you build an expensive home further inland in those cheap estates around Casey/Cranbourne shire. when you can affordably buy so close to the coast, nature reserves and close by Frankston is a regional hub with entertainmet and a university and is the gateway to the peninsula for weekend drives.etc.inspite of the flack Frankston receives. Everything of any substance over the long term is close by. When young families grow up and families need access to places for different needs Carrum Downs fits the bill as a good all rounder and affordable suburb. The biggest criticism is probably the lack of public transport for teenagers as the Eastlink only really serves working families; but as someone said previously its a suburb on the move and it will grow up. Hope this helps. Jenny Fry Ratepayer

Lived there on and off over a period of 2 years. WORST time of my life. The area is depressing, the people in general were pretty feral & never again will input myself through it. I'd sum the place up as a Hell Realm. Don't waist your time or money unless you want to lapse into depression or a social coma.

I beg your pardon MeM3, I have lived in Carrum Downs for 2 years myself.
Prior to that, I lived in Seaford North, Mordialloc, spent some time living in the USA and was born and raised in Sydney & had a holiday home on Phillip Island for a number of years.
I have been self employed since July this year, but for ten years prior to that I was a senior manager at the Australian Taxation office.
My husband is newly migrated from the USA.
Neither of us are "feral" my friend.
Nor are my neigjbours on either side, in fact they are retired professionals.
The street I live in is tree lined, quiet, the yards & homes are well kept and neighbours are either friendly or keep to themselves.
The community spirit in Carrum Downs is the best I've ever experienced.
I've watched this suburb grow exactly as predicted by jenniferfry in her comment above.
I see it continuing to grow over the coming years.
As for toxic dust from the treatment plant, and "war zone" noises from the gun range, all I can say to those who complained about that is; really? The air is full of pollution all over Melbourne, maybe you should plant some trees in your yard to filter the oxygen.
I can hear the gun range too, it's a background noise easily filtered out by busying your mind & body with something productive.
No suburb is perfect, free of crime or issues, but on a whole I think we are doing okay here in Carrum Downs.

To MeM3 I would say perhaps your perspective of the area is a reflection of yourself, for instance, communication doesn't seem to be your strong point, there were a number of grammatical & other errors in your comment, ("never again will input myself through it").
Perhaps if you work on those aspects of yourself that are letting you down in life, your view may change.
In any case, you need not bother "inputting" your generally uneducated self back here in Carrum Downs, we have standards.

It's a real Down suburb!

Hi LeaA1.
You are clearly intolerant, entitled and miss the point of this forum.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Its called freedom of speech. You may have heard of it while you were gaining your fantastic education and living your amazing life.
Launching a personal attack on someone who has an opinion is not appreciated by anyone on this site. No personal attack was made on you. I think you should apologise.
You may realise that communication is a two way process and you have totally stopped that by being so insulting. Wouldnt it be better to communicate with MeM3 to debate the issue.
I guess that communication is not your strong point.
We are all trying to form an opinion on this suburb and it clearly has pros and cons.

That sounds like Frankston North - Monterey Boulevard etc. which is a very small part of frankston... Also not the part I would recommend as thats where all the derro's used to live that gave frankston a bad name! Although in time I have no doubt that will clean up a little as well!

Karingal Resident!

Citysister - you should not assume the location bobby is refering to - in addition Karingal residents share the rest of Frankston with Frankston North - it's the same suburb. We rate cities on what they are now, NOT what they might be in the future.
I grew up in Karingal in Frankston. I moved away due to the safety factor of going to the local shops, my car being stollen/broken into numerous times and I would never want my children to attend a Frankston school or be exposed to the problems that plague Frankston youths.

Frankston High School is one of the highest performing public schools in Victoria, seems you are living in the past Sandy22, theft can happen anywhere, if you don't realise this you are plain ignorant.

Thief can happen anywhere but i've been there 4 times only. and my car already got smashed while i'm sitting in it. Police and council should improve the safety of this area, period..
