Ipswich

"A decaying city"

Going south on the Ipswich train line, Oxley is where civilization ends and the barbaric world begins. Ipswich is in the heart of the latter, a town on life support, without a future, full of low-IQ, shoeless, sweat-smelling, alcoholic bogans who breed a lot and live on welfare, and a corrupt government (the last administration was replaced because they were caught stealing money). I cannot think of anything worse than getting up every day of your life in that town (or even just working there), except probably doing the same thing in a ghetto in Detroit or Cape Town. I lived about 7 km from Ipswich only because in Brisbane (as in most places in Australia) it is very difficult to find a pet-friendly house in a safe neighborhood that doesn't break your wallet.

I disagree in regards to finding pet friendly rental properties, never had any trouble with finding a rental property at all with my small pooch. Been renting over 10 plus years here and in Qld and Vic. :)

Catalincatalin Maybe you just need to get a life. We have lived in Ipswich for 17 years having moved here from Paddington in Brisbane. There is bad in both places but I have had less trouble in Ipswich than Paddington. Ipswich is great. It has it's moments but every town does. I don't want to move from here. We have rental properties and could move away but we don't wan to. This is home. Our new Council is fantastic.

Jacquipirie, with all due respect, if you find the sight of dirty, smelly people walking without shoes in the place where you buy your food and the sound of obscenities being uttered every day on the train when you're on your way to work 'great', then you are a very easy person to please. I am glad that you feel happy in Ipswich. I didn't, so I left. I got, as you might say, a life, just in a better place:)

"Low-class area"

On my street there are nice houses and decent people, but we are surrounded by poor places, although, as everywhere in OZ, prices are still high if you want to buy, regardless of the neighborhood. In fact everything from Darra to Ipswich and beyond all the way to... ummm... Perth is redneck country, with a handful of immigrants from Third-World places. I only live here because it's hard to find a pet-friendly home for a decent price. Will move as soon I have the chance.
