Broadbeach Waters

"Wonderful quiet suburb. Close to everything"

I lived in Conifer Cres on a canal for 13 years. The street we lived in and surrounding streets had great neighbours who were a mix of retirees, middle age and a few young families. So quiet, never any riff riff. Close to Pacific Fair and Merrimac High. Never broken into, no loud parties and neighbours all helped each other. Check out Qld police crime map stats low crime area. Loved living there. Had to move due to work transfer. Would move back as it was great.

Beachmere

"Low socio economic dump. Would be fine for parolees"

Mainly asbestos shacks with streets that don’t have proper kerbing and channeling. Houses and gardens almost all look like rundown rentals. I have seen better looking housing commission houses. Very depressing suburb. Most residents look like they are on parole or day release. Low socio economic area and it shows. My husband lived there for many years as he tried to sell and he says it’s always been a dump. House bought 13 yrs ago hasn’t increased in value , would be lucky to sell without making a loss. Some streets flood. Buyer beware it’s cheaper than Woodridge for a reason.

Not a very factual or accurate review of this lovely relaxing and quiet bayside suburb. Any quick search of median house prices will prove this. A quick calculation leads me to believe your husband probably purchased his house just moments before the financial crash in 2008 which would explain why you have so much negative energy on the subject.

Absolutely agree steveh47.
I recently moved back into Beachmere amazed with the progress.
Great investment opportunities as perfect little hideaway amongst the suburban sprawl

Actually this is quite accurate with a 2 year full time experience living here - perhaps theres been growth, but the area is still a low socio economic dump as put. Anyone who revels in that will never be able to agree.

Haha at the above 'progress'' comment. What progress? Must have moved back to the town from the 1950s or something. In 2021 there are 2 ''cafes'', IGA, overpriced nearly-closed tavern and a few bits & bots here & there - have to drive everywhere for everyday things, can't swim, can't walk on the beach without being harassed by someones mongrel dog & a general community bonding of the poor & unfortunate who want it to stay this way.

I agree, this place is a joke - does not matter if people are paying more money to buy here, they are everywhere else - the same crap shacks & parolees are still rolling around that town & always will.

Low socio economic areas like Beachmere always attract trouble. Some people have said they dont agree with other peoples comments about cheap housing. Beachmere houses are extremely cheap compared with decent suburbs of Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.

Forest Lake

"I miss Forest Lake. I hope to move back one day soon. Hidden Gem"

I have owned 3 properties in Forest Lake. The first home I built and lived in while I WAS IN MY early 20’s in Centennial Park. My neighbours were fantastic. No loud parties, just people who were friendly and helpful. I made good money when I sold that house. The next was an established house in in Barrier Place, walking distance to primary school which I have rented out for many years. My 3rd home I built in Sanctuary Pocket and again had amazing neighbours and again made good money when I sold that house. Fantastic surburb to bring up young kids, we visited all the local parks regularly. Several of my friends ended up moving to Forest Lake after visits to my place. I was never broken into and never experienced any crime while living there. I moved to an expensive suburb on the Northside for my husbands family and would move back to Forest lake tomorrow if it was up to me. My son left Forest Lake aged 7 from a street with lots of well behaved kids to only 1 kid and not one local park in an expensive suburb Bris nth side. I work with victims of violent crime and Forest Lake isn’t a suburb On my radar. Check crime stats map with Qld Police and you will see for a suburb with a huge population it’s a lot safer than many small suburbs.
