South Hedland

"My time in South Hedland"

I lived in the pilbara for 17 years and for the most part loved the life style and the good people. Most of my time was in south hedland where I owned property. The down side to this was living behind 6ft fences because that was the only way to keep the feral natives out and even then that would only be if you had good dogs. Now before people jump up and down , I am not a race predudice person and actually employed many local people , asian , aboriginal or caucasian. But believe me when I say I know what I am talking about and the safety of your property and family is something you should consider before moving to south hedland. Anti social behaviour is the biggest concern for all residents but the local authorities unfortunately have failed to deal with this time and again. It was a combination of this factor as well as poor educational facilities for my high school aged son that made me sell up and move to Perth. I definately miss the good money and the good friends but I dont miss the town...
