Doncaster

"Liveable Doncaster"

I'm absolutely shocked about the "liveable" rating of Doncaster in the age today (25/11/2011). The rating for the crime rate was 1??? "What da ..?". Doncaster has no history? Do you need history to live in a particular suburb? I think the liveable ranking study need to have a better and diverse sample size across age; gender; culture; and history in Melbourne. And most importantly, they need to be correct!! I question the data collected in this study.
Doncaster is just about the safest suburb in Melbourne, based on my 5 years in Doncaster, and 30 years of living in Melbourne, West; North and East. The public transport in Doncaster is just perfect (My experience anyway). I travel by bus every single week days to the city for work. The bus is always on time, and I always have a sit. I just can't see how the Train and Tram compete with such level of services. Doncaster residents are polite, friendly and mostly professionals that hold respected positions within corporate enterprises. Doncaster also has excellent state schools, where students excel in all aspects of educational curriculum.
I can't think of a more family friendly suburb in Melbourne to live and raise children.

Who lives here?

  • Professionals
  • Families with kids

Couldn't agree with you more...Such an underrated area, and yet its packed with wonderful choices and facilities, is so incredible safe and friendly. I can't imagine how some of the other suburbs could even compare...
