Tinning Street

"Got it all!"

Tinning Street is an awesome street - it's really wide, with plenty of parking (which is a big plus in this area). It runs parallel to Albion Street, which attracts most of the traffic, so it's very quiet.

My house is only about 700m from the Anstey train station - which is really handy - only about 10 minutes on the train to the city.

Obviously, Sydney Road is a short walk away too - restaurants, shops, nightlife etc.

From my perspective, I haven't had any problems with noise, traffic or neighbours - it's a peaceful street that is still close to all the action.

Most of the places on the street have been renovated - but there are still a few that are currently being re-done.

Overall, I love the street, especially the location and the fact that it's a wide street that doesn't feel like you're living on top of everyone else - which is a great quality being so close to the city.

Absolutely - we're on Tinning St too but a little further from Sydney Rd. I love how it is closed off to Sydney Rd but you can still get over the train line on foot. Most of the houses are newly renovated and the street is wide with Albion and Moreland taking all the traffic.
Neighbours are very friendly and it is quiet - with the exception of the little bit of noise from people coming and going from units. Great place to live - much better than Mitchell St where we were previously!!

Spencer Road

"Awesome street"

Spencer Road is an awesome street - there's a cafe down one end (right near Riversdale Road), the big park and tennis courts, two train stations within a 5 minute walk, trams at the end of the street, milkbar in the middle of the street, nice neighbours, nice houses - it's a perfect street!!

The train line runs behind the street - I live on the other side of the street though - you do hear trains passing by, but it's never been an issue for me or anyone I live with. Perhaps, if you lived on the other side of the street, it may be too loud, but I'm not sure.

Also, people do use the street as a bit of a through road, so there can be a little traffic sometimes. That's being pretty critical though - it's really not an issue.

I couldn't recommend this street highly enough - it really is a great place to live.

Ovens Street

"In the heart of the action"

This is a great street that is in the perfect part of Yarraville - it's within walking distance to the Anderson Street/Ballarat Street intersection (5 minutes max) which is the centre of Yarraville in terms of the cafes, bars, shopping strip etc. It's also a very short walk from the train station (again 5 minutes max).

The train line splits Ovens Street in half - if you're too close to the tracks, I guess it could be a bit noisy, but most people don't seem to mind that too much. I find it quite soothing... It's very difficult to get off-street parking around this area and in this street, but given the great access to public transport, it's not really necessary.

The park and Yarraville Oval are also close.

I've found that, if you make a bit of effort, the neighbours are also extremely friendly and willing to help out when asked!

This is an awesome street to live in - especially for young couples or singles.

Can you hear the West Gate Fwy from there? It looks pretty close on the map.

I agree a great location. Parking may be a hassle but as a regular visitor I have always got a park > A great Yarraville street

McCubbin Terrace

"Great street to grow up in"

I've lived in McCubbin Terrace for about 10 years. The street is part of the Milgate Estate, which is a large park area with a whole lot of streets built around it. All of those streets have "private" access to the park (which includes tennis courts, basketball court (small), footy oval, playgrounds, lots of trees and open areas etc.). It would be a great place to raise kids.

McCubbin Terrace is right near the tennis courts and basketball court. It never gets too busy, although you do have people driving down the street to get to the courts. There is a small carpark down the bottom of the street for these people to park. The carpark comes in very hand when you're having a few people over.

There's no trains or trams in the area, which can get a little annoying if you're trying to get into the city quickly and you don't have a car. But, there are buses about 500m away and they are quite good.

There's a strip of shops (doctors, bakery, restaurants, chemist) about 1km away which is always pretty handy. We do our grocery shopping at Tunstall Square, but you can also go to The Pines or Doncaster Shoppingtown which are both close and big shopping centres.

About the neighbours, we don't really see them that much, but they all seem nice. There's certainly not a problem with noisy neighbours or anything like that.

Overall, this is a great place to raise a family, but it's a bit far from the action for singles or couples.
