I'm a kiwi mum with 3 young gremlins. We have lived in and around the Brisbane area for a bit over10 years. 6 years ago we moved out to Ipswich and it was honestly the BEST decision we made. The houses are affordable to rent with lots of old Queensland's on decent sized blocks to choose from. There are lots of parks, shopping centres, playgrounds and public gardens around Ipswich that are utilised frequently. Ipswich is a very family oriented city with plenty of great schools, health care facilities, there are lots of jobs with the ever growing infrastructure. This is a great place to raise kids. There are plenty of different community programs to choose from and are openly welcomed to the groups to join in the fun. There is a brand new childrens library in the heart of Ipswich city and plenty of history around to read about. If you're a foodie - there are LOTS of restraunts, pubs and cafes to sink your teeth into. Heisenberg house, Dovetails & Char’d Steakhouse are three of my families personal favourites. If you're thinking of moving to the area... DO IT!! 10/10 recommend.
