Berwick

"Beautiful town with a lot to offer"

Olde Berwick is simply stunning! A very quiet, leafy and clean area with easy access to many nice cafe's, restaurants, shops, bars and parks in the Berwick Village. There are many beautiful homes from various periods throughout history located within the Berwick Hoddle Grid, there are also some extremely impressive newer homes located around the top of Berwick around Beaumont rd, Old Coach rd, Casey dr, Caserta dr and Buchanan rd (You can expect to pay around $2-5 million for homes in these areas). It is quite a hilly area, particularly the further north you are, but this makes for fantastic views which extend all the way to Port Phillip Bay. There are some top performing schools in Berwick including Haileybury College, St Margaret's and Nossal which are all in the top 25 schools in Melbourne. It is also worth mentioning that Berwick has a number of hospitals including the fantastic St John of God hospital which my family has personally had an amazing experience with. For residents who have to travel down Clyde road it is currently subject to quite horrendous traffic conditions with road works and a level crossing removal taking place. Hopefully some of this traffic will be alleviated once these works are complete. I would say that Berwick is probably not ideal for commuters travelling to the CBD in peak hour, but from my experience working in the city If I leave before the peak hour traffic then I can get to the city in 35 minutes. If you are considering moving to Berwick and want to get a feel for the area then here are my recommendations; go have dinner at Shanika's, have brunch at Primary at Pioneers, take a walk around Wilson botanic park and go to the Akoonah park market. I find that Berwick is often subject to a lot of prejudice from out of towner's who don't know the area and group it in with places like Narre Warren, Pakenham and Cranbourne, but once they actually get to know the area I find they change their mind. Go check out the “Berwick Prestige Homes” instagram page, it says it all!
