Mawson Lakes

"One of the worst suburbs I have lived in! Get me out of here!"

It is horrible in my area. No parking, terrible quality NBN, located under landing strip of that f&*king airport! All day, every day, incredibly loud low flying light aircraft. Dont let the word light fool you - THEY ARE LOUD. Avoid Tech. Park area of Mawson Lakes AT ALL COSTS. It is legitimately unliveable. I am into heavy metal and its wayyyy too loud even for me. Its currently 7.30am on Boxing Day and I cant sleep in because planes are already out passing low over my house every few minutes. None of this is an exaggeration. Cant wait to leave!! Hate it.

The planes are just... ugh... They drive me to literally feel like shooting them out of the sky. You dont even understand how bad it is. I really needed some sleep this morning as my sick child had me up all night but nooooo the planes!!! THEY NEVER STOP.

Anyone who can ignore the planes (and some other major flaws of Mawson Lakes) are in major denial or got lucky in a prime spot.

I have lived in Payneham, Hillbank, Para Hills, Glenelg, Golden Grove and Melbourne and Mawson Lakes BY FAR is the worst. It doesnt have its own Australia Post 😑

My 2 stars were for the lake (good scenery for a morning run) and my balcony view of it! Oh which I can never enjoy because there is literally... And I mean LITERALLY almost ALWAYS a noisy plane in the sky.

Get me out of here!!!!

James.

Ps. This is not some trolling attempt. This is the true opinion of a disappointed renter nearing the end of a contract.

Who lives here?

Its right next to an airport.

jamesj6

No sh!t... An airport that when I moved in was only moderately used and has since become the 3rd busiest airport in the southern hemisphere. So spare me your tired and cliched response... Its a waste of my time.

And ps... If you have kids - start reading up on lead based fuels that light aircraft use and their effect on childrens health after prolongued exposure such as that which Parafield traffic offers. Then start spitting those idiotic tired ass responses out

I be here all day for study. Few plane noises not much most time, but you talk about plane noise on pilot training days. They call circuit training. Circuit training for student pilot has curfew at night and many student fly big loop from airport, to ocean and back again and they learn flying. It stop at 11, and only once per week maybe twice per week sometime but not more. My friend is student pilot, where you want him to train? You don't worry, he go home as pilot at end of year but another student will come so perhaps you worry again. Go away to hills. Quiet there. Suburbs not for you. You complainer. Live at road, truck too noisy you say. Live in city, too much dirt and cars too noisy you say. Live near harbour, boat too noisy you say. All too bad for you. You drink your cup now - I guess it half empty I am correct. I finish study this year. So you happy I go but always more students. You complain forever for pilot student learning but you catch a plane somewhere with pilot I guess is true! Complain of food on plane too I guessing. Get travels into world and see more then come here again, maybe change mind then. You complain still, then you are sad person forever. Like oasis here and you not see it. I see world and want live here but cannot stay. Maybe we swap. All things to be happy, but you still not happy. It not suburb that make you unhappy. Not happy here then not happy anywhere! Family visit me and all people so friendly. I hope you happy soon in new suburb you arrive to in quiet hills.

279,000 take offs per year. Being federal land, the state government and local council have no power over the noise or Mansfield

Management * of the site. Noise monitoring is done every 4 years with the planes using old piston engines , hence cannot be fitted with silencing equipment. Just a cash cow training overseas pilots
