Shepparton

"Escapee"

I had the misfortune to live in Shepp for a year and couldn't wait to escape. It is (with the exception of Perth Western Australia) the unfriendliest place I have ever had the misfortune to live in. Unless you have lived in this joint for a millennium or have squads of relatives in the place no-one wants to be friendly. Also DONT buy any real estate as I did unless you are prepared to hold on to it for at least 10 years as that is how long it will take you to make any money back on it as Shepp has a really strange 10 year price cycle. Hated the place, it smells of cow dung.

Great for

  • Picturesque Lake

Not great for

  • Impossible to make any money on real estate
  • Lack of decent shopping
  • Olympic Ave
  • Parking Meters
  • Lots of bogans
  • Unsafe of a night time

I agree about Perth. All my family live there and I have lived there on and off over the years. Of all the cities I have lived in (and I've lived in a few), Perth is the most clicky. It took me 8 months to find a rental as a sole parent due to the stigma and prejudices that people have about sole parents. I would hate to live there as a foreigner - especially a dark skinned person.

I feel exactly the same. Coming up to nearly 2 years in this most awful hideous place where the police encourage mental health, suicide, narcissism and violence all to be at its highest peak. I am like you, I literally can't wait to escape and this is after I already skipped state to flee domestic violence. I never thought a small town could be so bad. The problem is that those who should protect you and your child/ren here do the exact opposite. It is pitiful.
