Glenroy

"Good location but changing fast"

I would say the population in Glenroy doubled in the past decade. Nearly every single-house got knocked down to build 4-6 units. This causes quite a lot of street parking and traffic issues. Railway crossing doesn't help.

New residents mostly consist of people from Indian or Arabic backgrounds. (Not saying this as a positive or con, just fact).

Close to the airport, plenty of transport and shopping options and not too far from the city.

Would I live here as a uni student or a newly graduate? Perhaps yes. Would I live here with a family or as a retiree? No.

Great for

  • Great transport- train and freeways
  • Plenty of local shops and services
  • Proximity to the CBD

Not great for

  • Central area a bit ugly, particularly around the station
  • Cheaply built units taking place of older homes
  • Dirty streets, trashy, unkempt lawns
  • Neighbors aren't friendly
  • Not 100% safe

Who lives here?

  • Singles
  • LGBT+
