l have lived in Yarraville on & off for the last 25-30 years and the best 2 things about Yarraville are; 15minutes CBD City & Melbourne renowned live entertainment options & Nightlife and 15minutes to "bush" - have you ever driven to and from anywhere over eastward or even North / South these days and all you could see were endless red taillights & no back street short-cuts anywhere to be seen, classic "suburbia", Yarraville is NOT. Secondly, it suits any age group or "type" and, don't get me wrong Yarraville has definitely had its periods where there were dominating "types"... Like the celebration of "choice to love whom ever you wish" when everyone claims the renovations began in earnest. Renovating must be FUN with no kids and plenty of disposable cash, similar to teenage cashflow and frivolity l imagine?? Then came other family types which brings the friendly park atmosphere to the area. And l have recently been heard to comment, that the companion dog seems to be the latest "must have" accessory in Yarraville because everyone here has a dog, you must have a well socialized one or you will be very embarrassed by multiple doggie meet-and-greets you encounter on any outing in this here village. Best of all, it suits anyone at EVERY age and is currently a very balanced environment. Oh, and l lived on top of a shop in Anderson street back in the late 90's when my partner owned a picture framing shop down near the dry cleaners. No one gets the train noise worse than down that alley of a wind tunnel, so l am sure hearing traffic (which you get everyywheree) is probable the worse thing anyone can come up with the criticise the place - plus one year was in Top 10 suburbs in the world and one of the 6 years IN A ROW that Melbourne was voted best place IN THE WORLD to live!!!!!! Please, can anyone top that? I think not............. I heart Yarraville!!!
