Theres nothing here, its like being in another time, you can barely get phone signal. Booval Fair is your closest shopping centre and its not great. Theres a bit of crime (theft, car theft), bogans who set off fireworks for no reason, nosey neighbours, stray animals, frogs in your toilet. Hot/dry weather and it does flood sometimes.

You'll pay around $250/week for somewhere old and falling apart or $350/week + for something nicer and newer... but I wouldn't, look somewhere else.

Not great for

  • Boring
  • Crime
  • Housing

I was looking at it because its one of the very few places I could afford to buy by myself. Could you recommend anywhere else with similar prices that might be a little safer etc by any chance?

Langwarrin

The bus service here is awful, in some areas there is only one bus to Frankston every hour and you get thrown around and left feeling nautious - the closest station is Frankston and you will find getting there and onto a connecting train and back challenging with lots of delays and long waits. Parking at the station fills up fast, making driving to the station and catching the train not a great option either. But, even though its a long nauseating bus ride, it's only a short drive to Karingal or Bayside shopping centres and the beach.

There are a few nice parks with play equipment, but not a lot else to offer kids. I worry about snakes, there are a lot around and there have been fatal incidents with dogs. The neighbours mostly keep to themselves, but there are a lot of irresponsible pet owners and their barking dogs around and those that play loud music late into the night. The weather here is cold and often quite windy. Sure it's nice but there is not really anything to do here.

You can rent nice newish 2 bedroom unit for just under $300/week.

Great for

  • Neighbours keep to themselves
  • Mostly quiet
  • Close to the beach

Not great for

  • Public transport
  • Kind of boring
  • Snakes

My goodness, what a dreary review, why bother? You sound like you need to embrace life a bit more and realise that everything is relative, cheaper rent and more affordable house prices means distance from great transport links, the beach, large shopping and close proximity to Melbourne. Langwarrin is a friendly, local suburb, it has many great schools, kinders and local shopping, it has large football grounds, netball, basketball and lots of activities for children. There are friendly families and lots of older, retired people that create a warmth in our suburb. If you think it's so boring and lacks facilities, then move.

langwarrinlover I have to agree with you. I love living here!

Some people (and I'd say a lot of people) want more than football grounds and netball or at least be able to travel to other places with things of interest. I included in my review things I wish I'd known before moving here (both positive and negative), for the benefit of others, not for getting your opinion. I actually have moved and my family is better for it, we're 'embracing life' elsewhere, thanks.

I moved to Langwarrin four years ago and the place has really grown on me.In general the neighbourhoods are quiet and considerate. It feels like a big camping holiday park. Many people are caravanners.Has an atmosphere all of it's own and wonderful bird life. It has an equestrian park tucked away in the middle where you would least expect one to be. Its proximity to both Westernport and Port Philip appeal to me. I love pier fishing and my hubby loves boat fishing. We are just a jump from many beautiful beaches as well as everything else the Peninsula has to offer in the way of restaurants ,wineries, antique shops, golf courses, gallops, trots or greyhound racing, shopping malls ,markets, drive in cinemas.
