Noble Park

"It's okay if you're a family. Otherwise it can be hell"

Because there are so many townhouses going up there are a lot of young families here to the point where if you are older (retired) or single you don't quite fit in. There are many schools and some nice parks, and in the evenings people play with their children in the park and walk around the ovals, and on the streets they walk their dogs and others cycle. I have been walking in the late afternoons for a few years now and have never had any issues. I would not risk walking at night, though. Security is a concern; when I first moved in I was burglarised. Then again later on. I had to take extra security measures. The quality of new buildings here is bad. Cracks are appearing in mine and they used the cheapest materials possible. So be warned! If you buy here INSPECT the property VERY CAREFULLY FIRST. A few houses down (apart from the townhouses) is the 'party house' where they have very loud parties every public holiday. That gets annoying. Often police cars will flash past and people will use your yard as a thoroughfare. I had someone break a glass bottle in my backyard once. No idea why. The 'yards' that come with townhouses here are barely yards at all. Don't expect to be able to have a dog or much exercise or even a BBQ in your 'yard'. There is a lot of shopping nearby - Parkmore, Dandenong Plaza, Springvale. But the local options are limited; the Coles is tiny and doesn't stock everything. I don't bother with anything else in town - it's just easier to go somewhere more civilised! Every time I go to Coles there's either someone drunk, someone on drugs or someone begging or busking for money out the front. The people who live here, because it's so affordable, can be quite mean - and not just mean in terms of money. Mean about everything, actually. Judgemental and rude. Extremely discriminating towards you if you're a single female. The amount of times I've been harassed... By male neighbours who insist on having their own way all the time, men on trains, men in cars. It just gets to be a bit too much. I would like to move where there are more single people and the people aren't so nasty about things like parking spots and letterboxes and trees. Where the people are just generally nicer to me.

Who lives here?
