Lakemba

"Lively, Good food, great pubs with $4.20 schooners and cheap cocktails, the new Newtown"

There is plenty of life in Lakemba, with cheap rents, lots of backpackers are moving in. Being a stones throw to the CBD, good train and bus links and plenty of cheap eats. The area is undergoing a hipster revolution.
No longer the tired refugee area. There are new little bars, live music, thai food, burger joints and the all mighty Aussie Snack Pack.

Lakemba is throwing off its working class shackles and becoming a cool place to live.

Much like Newtown /Mount Druitt/Redfern were once rough and tumble places, but now have that hip/street art inner city vibe. Lakemba is changing.

There is a big LGBTI community from middle eastern backgrounds. With much acceptance and love.

When the national census finally asks the sexual orientation of how a person identifies then we will finally have a good indication at how many LGBT people actually live in Lakemba, and as an LGBT person myself I would guess that their would be less than 50 individuals in a suburb that has a population of more than 17k people.

Mount Druitt

"Little China Town/Newtown in the West!!!! At half the price :)"

Really friendly area. When I moved in the Neighbors all came over and said hello. My Chinese brought me moon cakes as it was the time of Chinese New year. I love the fact that there is an express train to the CBD of sydney at the time taken is about 35 minutes. Or around 15 minutes on the train to Parramatta.

The area has a vibrant Arts Scene. Similar to areas like Newtown but without the expensive prices.

There is great take away food shops around the suburb - Chinese food aplenty, Lebanese Style Charcoal Chicken and some amazing Abdul's Lebanese.

Awesome Parks around to cycle, jog and play with the kids.

Theres some great pubs nearby.

The area has everything.
