"Beware high crime and bogans"
Furthest suburb from the city. Overcrowded. Very low socioeconomic population. Traffic is bad. Roadworks never end. Crime is high. The houses are slapped together in a couple of weeks and already getting infested by termites. I would avoid it.

No its not, If you actually think the area is safe then youre dillusional. Lets not even talking about the poor quality of education in the secondary schools, the amount of troubled youths and delinquents in this area is phenomenally larger compared to other areas, I ran a business here, I know.
Ive lived in Berwick for 17 years and have never had any issues with crime at all, nor have any of my friends or family who live here.
Johng42, poor quality of secondary schools? Perhaps youre forgetting that Berwick is home to a campus of Haileybury college, the number 1 ranked school in the entire country. Not to mention St. Margarets school, a highly prestigious girls school. Get your facts strait!
I agree with johnh66 I lived here my whole life I got a great education at the school of Beaconhills collage Berwick and it is a private school Berwick as so much to offer like in the main parts and and in my whole life I never got robbed mugged or anything and I know a lot of people here none of them have either and my parent have either and they lived here for over 30 years

Berwick is changing, I grew up here and I can safely say its a different demographic now, its not what it used to be, just much more expensive now. Plenty of migration has pushed up house prices once freeway goes in should make life easier around the new housing estates.
I Lived in south yarra for many years not far from chapel st. Weekends it was full of drunks, and fights,daily the streets would be full of random junkies, have to say Berwick is much nicer dont see anything like that all though Im not aware of the crime around me its just not as obvious. The area is much more relaxed great vibe real people and a great suburb to bring up my family, so far!
Berwick isnt to bad Berwick high had a reputation but the. You go down the road and you have elite or are schools.
This is very far from the mark of what Berwick is. I think you should reconsider your judgement
