I looked up one bedrooms bc I didn't know how many bedrooms you were interested in. All apartments are furnished. www.bondnewyork.com is also helpful with furnished/unfurnished apartments.
Heck, If I could move right now, I found a nice four bedroom/2 bath 2 floor apartment that would work for me, my husband and our six kids for $6,500 a month utilites not included. It even has a terrace and garden. But I can't afford to move at the moment.

7th Ave? That's right on the crest of the best part of the West Village if you're downtown, and, yeah, that is one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Manhattan.

Obviously, based on the prices quoted by Freyja4, that is one area I think I will stay away from. Wow. Talking about high prices.

Seems standard fro the West Village. Whenever I do a W. Village outing, the locals I end up meeting are always in film or in advertising, and I guess they're making big money in those industries.

@Everyone I just did a quick lookover at Street Easy the other day as someone made us a ridiculously low rental offer ($800.. they were hoping for a cheap deal !!!!)and it seems to me that rentals are slowly creeping upwards yet again..don't you think so??

Yes, uptowngirl! I was thinking about moving and started poking around. Rents are definitely going back up.
@uraniumfish: all of the snl people live in the West Village, so yeah, it seems to just be the ole Mad men and entertainment people.

Well I guess that means we should go into the entertainment or advertising business. This way we can afford such rent. :)

@uptowngirl Not sure about the upward creeping rents yet. I think they're always trying to inch back up, but, honestly, I don't see the housing market getting all that good for a while yet. Sometimes individuals who only deal with one or two tenants haven't cottoned on to the fact because they're not really aware of what's happening int he wider marketplace.

I'm poking around for rents now too, and I'm finding lots and lots at lowish prices. Also, one apartment building was offering free month's rent, in an effort to attract renters but not have to go down on the rental price.

@uptowngirl Heck, uptowngirl, if you're charging $800 I'll definitely rent your apartment!

@uptowngirl So, if I may ask, what ARE you charging for your apartment? I'm actually in the market for a new place.

@DBlack and Uraniumfish Unfortunately I have costs associated with the apartment and the going rate in the area for our size of apartment is currently $2500 per month so that's how much we are looking for though the rental being as it is in a co-op would be subject to board approval. This is the reason that we left it unoccupied we just didnt have the time to go through with the whole process.

$800 for an apartment? Heck, I'd MOVE to NYC again to live in that sort of place with rates. Why is everywhere so darn expensive? Crazy!
