"Acland Street - the main street in St Kilda"

Acland Street is the main street in St Kilda. It has plenty of cafes ,shops, 2 supermarkets, 4 doctors including 3 which are bulked bill. There are plently of great bars such as dogs bar and at the other end the Village Belle. During the summer months grab a ice cream and wonder around

"One of Melbourne's Premium Streets"

Beach at one end, fabulous food and retail the other. Transport options aplenty. Lovely Art Deco residences.

"Best part of Melbourne!"

Acland Street: Stones throw from the beach, excellent public transport, vibrant suburb with lots of character, shopping and dining options!

Lived here for 4 years and love it!

Some of my favourite things:

Sea Baths, Night Markets, Sunday Markets, Chinta Blues, Beach & Dog Beaches, Claypots, Lau's Family Kitchen, & Acland St Shopping!

"A great blend, from quiet and leaft to busy and vibrant"

We visited Acland street while staying in St Kilda. We were hoping our apartment would be on Acland street as it was a wonderfully quiet and leafy street to walk down. Unfortunately for us it wasn't.

But, the quiet leaft end of Acland street would make the ideal place to live. A lot of well established trees shade the street and with traffic restrictions there is very little through traffic. It is well suited to families.

At the other end of Acland there are the shops and cafes. It is the bust end of acland and as a result is much noiser. It is much more geared towards young singles and couples.

Either end provides great access to the city with a lot of public transport and there are a number of good quality bars close by.

The supermarkets are of a good size and there are a wealth of other shops and places to eat.

"A tale of two streets...in one!"

While many people think Acland Street as the alive center of hustle bustle shopping cafe living, many people don't realise that Acland Street has some of the nicest homes in St Kilda. In between Fitzroy Street and Carlisle St, Acland Street turns residential, with glorious tree canopies, and old style brick houses. There are a few houses that would be great for redevelopment as well.

It really is one of the best locations in all of Melbourne, so close to everything such as ALL the shopping and dining on both Fitzroy Street and Jacka Blvd, and not to mention having the beach at your doorstep is a joy.

The only downside I can think of is that there a few people who walk in between Fitzroy St and Carlisle St on Friday and Saturday night. And parking is permit zone in the street, so no go there ether.

Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this Acland Street in St Kilda!

Rentals in St Kilda

"Acland St is one of the many gems in St Kilda."

Wow, so much can be said about Acland Street.

From the amazing ice cream at Apple's and Trampoline, to the fantastic Hamburgers at Pitstop, this street has it all. A visual feast, it's always busy especially during the middle of the day. One of my favourites is the big rocket ship architecture on top of Schmick Studios (which i think is a tanning salon).

Nightlife - Felix bar is fantastic, but there is something better. One of my favorite nightspots, The Vineyard, is on Acland St. I highly recommend Vineyard on both Saturday nights and also on Sunday afternoons, it's very relaxing with a good crowd, and I am yet to have a disappointing night here.

I suppose this would be considered one of the best places to live if you are a backpacker, as you are so close to all the excitement that St Kilda has to offer, such as great nightlife, access to beaches, closeness to the city...and how can I forget good ole luna park!!

The only negative thing I can say about Acland Street is that there are quite a few homeless people\hobos that hang around up near the park next to Luna Park. They sometimes even harass you as well. I suppose it's just something you get used to after a while.

Overall, I highly recommend this iconic street in the heart of St Kilda!

"the best place on earth."

The best place on earth, in the heart of the action of Melbourne, the beach at 100m, the coffee shops, between the trees and the sea, just in the back of the city. Just perfect.
