Depends on which suburb you're in, but I've used Gelato Bello in Glynde, and more recently Ecco Gelato in Holden Hill, Both are good.

When I was visiting St Louis was where I headed for an ice cream treat in Adelaide http://www.st-louis.com.au/. It's has a similar concept and feel to Gelato Messina in Melbourne & Sydney with locally made ice cream using premium ingredients.
