Hi there,
I have acouple of Qs.....
Acouple of years ago my husband and I rented a lovely home.... we were on a 6month lease but I moved out 4months into the lease because things went sour between my husband and I so I moved out..... now we are working things out and are now finding a rental.....
my husband told me aweek ago that when the 6month lease was up the Agents gave him an agreement to extend the lease which he did, but he left before the lease was up.... so now Im super angry with him and have told him that he would have been blacklisted....
anyway I have made him ring the real estate up to make an agreement to pay what he owes.... but he has rung three times and the lady said that someone will ring him back but no one has.....
Is it possible that I have been blacklisted to?? even though I didnt sign the new lease agreement??
I take Pride in having a good name renting/credit ect Im worried I have a bad name.....

Thank you so much :)

Hi Mahlich,

When you moved out, your notice to the agent should have been in writing. Their response to you would or should have been in writing. Leaving only your husbamd as the sole lease holder.

So at that point, your husband would've been the only lease holder and any lease extension they offered him would be in his name only.

If, at the point he left and there were no monies outstanding - there will be no way you would be listed.

There are ways to check if you have been listed - contact TICA 190 222 0346 - please note that it will cost $5.45 per minute. Fax: 02 9743 4844 - check out the website www.tica.com.au

If you have found you are listed, and you believe this is unjust, you do have recourse to take your name off the register through the RTA dispute process or through the agent or TICA directly.

Please let me know if this has helped and if you need more information.

Hi,

Just wondering on your opinion because you are a Property Manager yourself. I have been given an opportunity to start with a fairly new Real Estate as a Property Manager in a new office they are opening. I have only done 2 months in another office and completed my course. They want me to run the whole thing from scratch and any questions or request that I have to direct back to head office for the answers. I will be in this office by myself, there is a ‘licensed agent’ as well but he is hardly here. Since I have not too much experience do you think it is achievable or should I tell them they are crazy and go and get some experience with another agency first? I’m pretty switched on and feel I will learn as I go but I know the consequences of doing it wrong can be pretty severe
