Pushy Lygon St restaurant owners - needs regulation!

I was recently in Lygon St with my wife looking for a place to eat and was horrified to see how aggressive the restaurant hawkers have become at trying to get you into their establishments.

3 people from different places literally blocked our path as we tried to walk through then tried to sell us on how they had the best food in town.

One creep even put his arm around my wife guiding her to the menu.

Do you think I should send council a complaint? After all it's not a good look for tourists.

give them a sneer and tell them to f@@@ off is the best approach. I used to work in Carlton and they are rather stupid. I knew their faces within a week but I would walk past every day and it took months for them to recognise me and not bother trying to get me in. The Melbourne Council is useless as it is an apology group for local businesses so complaining to them won't achieve much. Take your revenge by eating in the delightful North Carlton village area instead!

I never knew you had such passion about the Lygon St owners Brian :)

I love it BrianWard! Can you imagine the look on their faces.

Seriously though, from a tourist perspective I don't think it's that bad. If you've been to Hong Kong or any other major tourist city, there are no shortage of hawkers.
