Charles Street, Prahran, VIC 3181

We lived on Charles Street for one year.

What initially drew us to the street was the distance from work - we were able to walk to work daily. Everything actually, was within walking distance! The convenience factor was really wonderful.

The Prahran Market is only a few blocks away and has all your fresh food needs, from simplistic to gourmet. With Chapel Street and Greville Street on your doorstep, the shopping is amazing! If you realize you're going out and have nothing to wear, its only a minute walk to find a really fantastic outfit for the night.

This is definitely not a location for families though. Our 8 year old nearly went stir crazy from the lack of freedom. With no room for a back yard and not being able to go out alone for a bike ride or run and play, children really won't enjoy the area.

The noise levels can get crazy as well. With so many night clubs and pubs within walking distance, it seems you have intoxicated people walking by, shouting, singing or just being annoying at all times of night. There were broken bottles outside of our door nearly every weekend. It is also not an area where you would briefly leave something outside your door if you wanted to see it again. I once sat a water bottle down on my gate whilst running inside to get my phone. When I came back, there was a man who'd just grabbed it and started walking away. If its outside, its fair game, apparently.

Parking can be a nightmare, as it is in such close proximity to shops, but you learn to live with it and honestly, you don't need a car in the area.

This is a perfect area though for young singles, couples or executives that need the convenience.
