Collaroy Plateau has a wonderful sense of community, excellent facilities, including your pick of 3 great schools, oval, park, great shopping centre plus excellent transport. You can have ocean or bush land views from the Plateau. I love it, we moved here from Manly.

So far (1 month) we love it. The beach is beautiful and being able to walk in all directions and experience such wonderful views and the refreshing sea air is fantastic. The neighbours have introduced themselves and everyone says hello. It is safe as - we never lock our doors. It is a walk to a good range of basic shops, a range of cafes and eating places and an old style cinema. The 22 yo boomerang baby is so impressed by the transport links to the city she is hanging around.

Parking is difficult in the unit streets, but better towards the plateau.Traffic is good aside from Pittwater Rd, which gets very busy especially on weekends. It is the main public transport route, with a bus to the city taking about 45 mins. There are no gyms at Collaroy, but there is always the beach and long reef for running, and the beach pool for swimming. Surfing is not so good in Collaroy as waves are often small, but only a 5 min walk along the beach to Narrabeen where the waves are better. Overall the locals are friendly, and streets are safe even if walking late at night. For the younger generation The Surf Rock hotel is very busy on Friday nights. It does get rowdy and drinks are pricey but good atmosphere and fitout classy. Although it does get rowdy there are very few serious incidents. For the older generation. The Collaroy Beach club does trivia, dancing, poker, and band nights playing 60's, 70's and 80's music, and is about to be refurbished. There are a few restaurants, Stella Pizzaria, Dragonfly, and Rupee Room being the best picks

Collaroy is a suburb of Sydney 22 kilometres north-east of the CBD in the local government area of Warringah Council but still considered to be in the Northern beaches district of Sydney. It is 35 mins to the CBD normally and 60 minutes during peak traffic load.

Bounded on the north by Narrabeen and Belrose, the east by the Pacific Ocean, the south by Dee Why and to the west by Cromer. The population in 2006 was 14,189 with 24% under 18 and 18% over 60.

Collaroy Beach is a beautiful clean beach accessible from Pittwater Road. It is the southern part of the long sweeping beach starting at the Narrabeen lakes outlet and progressing south to the point at Long Reef.

The point is home to the Long Reef Golf Club. A pleasant windswept area hosting 18 holes. The club itself has a pleasant restaurant and has been the scene of many weddings and other functions.

The Collaroy Tennis Club on the corner of Anzac Avenue and Pittwater Road shares the point and consists of 6 high quality courts.

Both the golf and tennis club are part of Griffith Park which is managed by the Warringah Council. The park has a number of mini wetlands and ponds as well as some "no mow" areas to protect remnant colonies of native grasses.

Overall Collaroy is a pleasant part of suburbia.

Collaroy is a lovely suburb located on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. It is approximately a thirty to forty minutes' drive from the city (depending on traffic) and it does not get as busy as Dee Why and Manly. There are mainly houses here and they are often built on hills. The streets around the residential area can be quite narrow at times too.

Along the main strip of Collaroy, you can find your organic food cafe, a milk bar, surf shops and a day spa. It is a rather small suburb as compared to Dee Why and that is pretty much the reason why it is not as crowded as Dee Why. Many people love living here because of its proximity to the beach. However, getting to the city during peak hours can be a real chore due to its distance and the sheer amount of traffic on Pittwater Road.
