Express trains depart from Frankston station during the week early in the morning. By catching the express train, you can cut a good 20 minutes off your travel time, making the entire trip to the city roughly an hour. I commute every morning, I find it much easier and find my travel time is decreased by at least 40 minutes a day by using the express trains in mornings and of evenings. You can drive but you may experience heavy traffic running through the Nepean Hwy during peak hour, causing an increase in travel time. Normally a trip to the city via car would take 45minutes -1hour, but with heavy peak hour traffic, this can exceed to 1 1/2 - 2 hours.
