Reviews of Hythe Street, Mount Druitt

"Very Pleasantly Surprised."

I became unemployed (for the first time in approximately 20 years) during an unexpected low point of my life. I was offered Community Housing Support in the form of a brand new unit on Hythe Street at Mount Druitt. When the Agency called me and advised there was a property available, I felt physically sick at the thought of having to live somewhere so dangerous (not only myself but my baby who would be born within the following eight weeks). That was three years ago. My unit is a ground floor unit and has never been broken into. Vehicles are kept in a ground floor garage, neither my previous nor my current car have been tampered with. I am not scared entering or exiting my car in the garage at night but do not take public transport because I simply have no need. I shop at Westfields; I utilise Mt Druitt Library; I swim in Mt Druitt Pools; I live at Mt Druitt! No-one has ever asked me for cigarettes or money! My neighbours are a mix of people but mostly decent in either case, I like to keep to myself. I can't personally recommend any schools however have noticed how smart the Chifley College students look in their full uniform attire (blazers and hats)... I will have to relocate closer to my employers to ensure I can manage sole parenting and full time work again and I'm going to miss my unit in Mt Druitt! Every suburb changes a little year by year with the people moving into it.

Great for

  • Great location for: Shopping centre, train station, library, pools, RTA, Police Station, Hospital, Service Stations
  • Close to the M7 - access points to all directions of Sydney (35 mins to Bondi Beach)
  • Close to Wet n Wild, Raceway, Drive inns....

Not great for

  • Regular discarded furniture waiting on council pick up on the side of the road
  • Frequency of tenant turnover...
