Family friendly restaurants in Melbourne?

I am looking for a great restaurant where I can take the kids and some friends, happy to travel but want somewhere with a kid friendly attitude and menu. Many thanks

Agreed all the Zagame hotels are great and have cheap children's meals + great play areas to keep them entertained!

I have to agree with Melissa, Zagame's is always a winner with little ones! The Kids World at the Berwick Zagame's is also great for keeping kids and parents happy at dinnertime.

At Chelsea Heights Hotel kids eat for FREE on Wed nights. They also run FREE kids entertainment and karaoke on Fri and Sat nights.

I went to my niece's birthday party at Cubbyhouse Canteen in the middle of Union Street Reserve in Armadale. They have 2 enclosed adventure playgrounds and lots of kid-friendly nibbles.

Muffin Break cafe in Carnegie Central have partnered up with Croc's Playcentre, so you can enjoy a coffee and a freshly baked muffin while the kids run wild in the indoor playground.

If you're looking to get out of town for a day trip I'd recommend Mount Duneed Estate about an hour south west of the city http://www.mtduneedestate.com.au/. Their Barrel Hall cafe has live music on weekends, wine and beer tastings, delicious food made from locally sourced produce & they have a sandpit & chalkboard to keep the kids occupied. They also have a good kids menu.

Iron Henry in Murrumbeena is great for kids, they have an upstairs eating area just for the little ones with plenty of toys to keep them entertained while you enjoy a meal or one of their famous muffins. It's perfect for lunch or breakfast :)

Zagame's in Boronia is great as it has it's own "Kid's World", so perfect if you want to have a family dinner but don't mind if the kids are conveniently distracted by the play area!! They can have their fun and the adults can catch-up. The staff are very understanding, with kids tending to dart across the restaurant they are skilled at dodging. Be warned, it can get quite loud but in terms of keeping everyone happy it's a winner.
