"Quiet, private, leafy, safe, like living in the country in the middle of the city"

Paddington is a beautiful, leafy, safe suburb . I can take my dog for a walk at all times of night and I always feel safe. As Paddo is full of professional people it is tidy and quiet. Neighbours are friendly, we have street parties but most people respect each others privacy. There is a great walking and bike path all along Enoggerra creek that goes for klms. There are also a couple of dog off leash areas. Ithace pool has been upgraded. Ithaca TAFE is down the road, the Broncos club and the Paddo pub are down the road. Ithaca State school has a great name. Everyone at Paddo shops is friendly. There are many alternative medicine places and the doctors are good. Some bulk bill. If you have a look at other major capital cities it is inner city where you get the most capital gain.

It's a bit like Camberwell in Melbourne used to be. I walk to the city every day for work and there are great trendy shops as wel as op shops. It isn't outrageously expensive to shop here. It's great if you have visitors because there are so many restuarants and coffee shops. The antique centre is here and there are many art galleries.

It's a great suberb to live in and I love it.

"Safe neighbourly community"

Paddington is a highly sought-after area with panoramic views of the city that offers a unique suburban living on the outskirts of the city. Paddington is one of Brisbane's oldest districts, featuring tree-lined avenues and attractive heritage buildings, as well as a vibrant café and shopping culture.

"Sought after suburb bursting with life"

Once a rough working-class suburb, Paddington has become one of the most sought after suburbs in Brisbane. It has transformed into a local hot spot, with a thriving drinking, dining and shopping scene. With a mix of young adults and families, this suburb is one of Brisbane's best suburbs to live.

"A Hilly leafy village"

Off all the suburbs Ive lived in Brisbane, Paddington is where my heart is.
I love getting of the bus which come every 7 minutes in peak hour and looking across the hill to the CBD in the distance and Mt cootha with a western sunset. We became a one car family was I could walk home from the local shops and get transport easily. The pretty timber heritage homes and the leafy streets make this suburb so so quaint. Friendly locals great child care / schools and shops.

"Paddington, the best parts of Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane"

Paddington is a beautiful, quiet and relaxed suburb so close to the city. It's the best mix of all the best parts of Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane - the culture, local cafe's and restaurants, stunning period homes and chilled out vibe, it is excellent for young professionals and families alike. Public transport is excellent along Latrobe Terrace and Given Terrace, and the lovely tree-lined streets provide a peaceful homely feel. The area is safe, the residents are very friendly and welcoming, and there is a strong sense of community. I lived in Ascot for many years before moving to Paddington, and although Paddington is often referred to as "the Ascot of the West" I much prefer Paddington for all the reasons I've mentioned. It's the best suburb I've ever lived.

"Fantastic central location"

Close to everything, and a great cafe/shopping area. I love living in Paddington and have now done so for nearly 10 years. It's definitely a beautiful suburb, but is lacking in parking.
The cafe strip could be the next James Street if it's done properly. It's also really varied with its many art galleries and antique/op shops, so the types of people that frequent the stores are often as eclectic as the stores themselves!
The one thing I think Paddington needs more of (besides parking) is a better thoroughfare of shops down the city end of Given Terrace. Between Caxton street and Given terrace the shops get a bit scrappy and far between. It'd be fantastic if Given, Latrobe and Caxton streets were all developed into a true shopping/eating/dining strip!

Great for

  • Walking distance to everything
  • Great cafes and shops

Not great for

  • Sometimes can get too noisy and congested due to the football stadium
  • Parking can sometimes be an issue

"This was our first home in Australia"

We moved to Paddington when we were kids straight from New Zealand, and we lived in the area for close to three years before moving to Tarragindi. For the three years it was fantastic as a kid, leafy, safe and everyone was friendly. We literally walked everywhere as it was superclose to walk to the city etc. We still have family and friends that live in the area and we still attend the Presbyterian Ithaca Church to this day. When i reached 18, sure enough I was back in the area more frequently enjoying the cafes, restaurants and the nightlife. From being a child and going back to enjoy the area as an adult was a pleasure, seeing the change and hype of the area increase. We lived at the top of Martha Street, a good little bit of hill to walk up too everyday after school. Only thing i could complain about going back as an adult is the parking! If i can't park in my families parking space, I know its a game of 'spot the park' for a while! Even going to church can be a pain in the butt looking for a spot!

"Close to everything - the best place to find weekend breakfast - antiques galore!!"

I have rented in Paddington twice - a hilly, eclectic suburb with excellent eateries and shopping options. Close to the city but also a short drive from bushland parks such as Mt Coot-tha and D'aguilar NP. Parking is usually a mission but the bus services are decent. Paddington is hands-down the best place to get a weekend breakfast and has some lovely boutique bars (Dowse bar and The Lark). Its great for students as it is a short walk to QUT Kelvin grove or gardens point, and the cycle paths to UQ St Lucia are not too hard to get to. For an urban suburb, it is surprisingly quiet!

"Perfect Paddington!"

I first moved to Paddington when I was 18 & just out of school. Moved into Warmington Street and into a share house which was a hoot. This was my first experience of Paddington and I am now nearly 40 and still living here. Have moved around the world and always come back here. I love the character homes, the vibe, the restaurants, cafes, the people (especially the locals in Rosalie) and most of all the community feel it has. Working in Rosalie (which is a locality of Paddington with same postcode) is one of the best jobs I have ever had.

"Fun and funky"

If you consider shopping a great way to spend time, then you'll love Paddington in Brisbane. With a lovely array of boutique clothing and lifestyle shops and some awesome cafes, Paddington is high on my list of suburbs I'd most like to live in. It attracts a certain resident that is a cross between student and theatre workers with many interesting folk. It's edgy, but safe, trendy and accessible to the inner city. It's also really pretty, with a nice blend of quaint cottages and schmick new apartments. Rent can be high, but buying is a whole lot higher. There are some great schools in the area, with Kelvin Grove just around the corner.

"About 20 mins drive from Brisbane central, Paddington is quite trendy."

Paddington was an area of old wooden 'Queenslanders' but over time they have been renovated and this area has taken on an atmosphere all of its own. It is set a little higher in the hills 20 mins drive north west of Brisbane and is a very strong rental area for those who are working in Brisbane proper.

It is just far enough out of town to be out of the hustle and bustle of Brisbane, but close enough to access anything that you may need. The restructuring of the Brisbane access routes has meant that Paddington now has quick access for people going north or south from the city.

The roads can be quite hilly and quite narrow and this all adds to its appeal, but I am sure for some it is not so desirable as many people have to leave their vehicles on the street.

This is another area of cafés, so enjoy.
