Looking for a home in Paddington?

13th February 2022

"Some people need to get over themselves but otherwise a nice area."

Loved living close to bondi and the city. Some good cafes and easy public transport as well as some amazing views.

Sadly though living in a weathly area in sydney means dealing with some pretencious people who think they are better then others and can really be quiet rude, selfish and manipulative about their rude attitudes. People with money around here tend to think they are better then others. Also filled with nasty, condescending boomers.

"Husbands need an afternoon date idea for you and the Wife. Try Paddington."

Gentlemen, yes this will involve shopping, art galleries and enjoying fine cuisine. Pick a Saturday or Sunday, maybe a quieter weekday. Just make sure it is a warm sunny day. Book a local Airbnb, I am sure you’ll find something with character. Plan ahead, have the credit card on standby too. Oxford St, William St and Glenmore Rd are great for shopping for the ladies. Buy a dress, jewelry or flowers… In combination are nice galleries (grab a local art guide map) to discuss the finer points of life, such as kids and real estate. Start at the west end and move east toward Centennial Park. Impress the wife with a nice walk down Paddington St, lovely treelined street. Book ahead and pick a restaurant in Five Ways to finish the afternoon. Choice of Thai, Vietnamese, Italian and Gourmet Pizza plus more. The Royal has a rooftop bar which is great to watch the sunset and to have a cocktail. A nice tip, the Royal hospital for Women Park is a great little spot to chill and have coffee. Or try the Paddington Reservoir Gardens. "Jamie Zimmermann - Sales Agent Paddington - Zimmermann Agency".

"Unfriendly community"

I used to be a Postie in Paddington (2013 - 2016). There are some nice people but a majority of people living in Paddington are hoity-toity baby boomers. It's an unfriendly suburb that I'm glad I don't need to visit anymore.

"A superb suburb to live, invest and work..."

Bordered by areas such Darlinghurst, Centennial Park, Woollahra, Edgecliff, Rushcutters Bay and Moore Park plus only 3kms from Sydney CBD, you are spoilt for choices for work, transport and leisure. Paddo has some beautiful buildings dating from the early 1800's mixed with new modern contemporary residences. This is a suburb that will never be out of style and demand.

"Five Ways Village - Art, Fashion, Heritage, Health & Beauty, Food & Wine, Real Estate"

Five Ways is a very unique village with such a wonderful atmosphere, I love the range of services Five Ways has to offer as well as the beautiful heritage buildings you see as you walk through the suburb. There is nothing quite like walking into a shop or cafe and being greeted by name for those of us who are locals and offered a smile and fantastic service.

Five ways is known for its Cafes, Restaurants & Pubs, Galleries and Real Estate it's a lovely place to live for anyone who wants it all at their door step.

"Paddington - a happening place"

The inner city suburb of Paddington is situated 3 kilometres east of Sydney’s CBD and is in the local government areas of the City of Sydney and the Municipality of Woollahra. It is affectionately known as “Paddo”. It has a population of about 11,700 13% of whom are under 18 and 16% of whom are over 60.

Paddington has everything for those who love the inner city hustle and bustle. It is full of restaurants, boutiques and fashion stores. Visitors flock to Oxford Street for the shopping and entertainment available. Oxford Street is also the venue for the annual Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade.

The suburb underwent a revival in the 1980’s when many people bought run down terrace houses, refurbished them, and then sold them at high prices. My mother’s best friend really made a killing doing this!

There are many historic buildings in the suburb which are on the Register of the National Estate. It is the home of Victoria Barracks a main Australian Army base which was built in 1848. Paddington Public School was opened in 1856 and is still going strong. The children use nearby Centennial Park as their playing fields.

Paddington – the suburb where it is all happening and definitely not for those who want to live a quiet existence.

"Walking distance from the CBD"

Highly popular with professional couples, Paddington is a very popular spot just to the east of the CBD. It is within easy walking distance, and also serviced by frequent buses.

The streets are really picturesque here, with row after row of Victorian terrace houses. Many have small courtyards out the back, so you can find just enough room for a BBQ and the chance to make the most of the Sydney sun.

The suburb is really quite quaint and full of surprises. There are many little clusters of stores and cafés on street corners, often servicing delicious organic food or Thai. There are also a number of cool pubs tucked away in the quiet streets.

"Paddinton - Ideal for singles and couples with plenty to do."

Paddington is in the eastern suburbs of Sydney not far from to the CBD. Paddington’s popularity has risen in recent years and has become a highly sort after area for singles and young couples to live. There are many federation style terrace house in Paddington which have been restored on the outside and renovated on the inside. Property prices have been rising over the years and are quite expensive now. Close to all amenities, Paddington is has some great boutique style shops and cafes, as well as hotels offering nightly entertainment. Also close by is Centennial Park which is a popular place for walking, cycling, horse riding and picnics. Paddington is about a 15 min drive to Bondi Beach or to save parking problems there is a very reliable and frequent bus service.

"A shopper's dreams come true"

Paddington is the ultimate place to go shopping in Sydney and is frequently referred to the Mecca of shopping in Sydney. The main street - Oxford street, features two endless rows of shops, boutiques, cafes, restaurants, pubs, local designers, grocers and etc. There is a very good vibe able this place and there is a market that is held at Paddington Public School every single Saturday. This is not your usual flea market. Instead, it is a charming market that allows new and budding designers to sell their wares and hence making it a little bit upmarket.

Many yuppies like living in Paddington because of its proximity to the city - you cannot beat 5 minutes' drive. Houses here tend to be narrow terraces with no backyard and a shared wall with your neighbours. Streets are very narrow around the residential area and you can often see cars parked on the kerb to avoid being in the way of traffic. Housing in Paddington is definitely on the higher end of the scale. This place is more suited for young couples, singles and those with small families.
