Eumundi Markets are great -- but are they too good, now?

When ever I go and holiday up at the Sunshine Coast, I try and make a little trip to Eumundi, for their Eumundi Markets, on the weekend. I've seen it grow and grow and now i wonder if it's getting out of control?

there's a massive number of stores (which is a great thing!) but there's so many people which means there's so many cars -- so it's a real turn off now .. because I know it's pain to drive in there and find a park.

That said, love the shopping and the food :)

I agree - the parking situation is out of control. I always pay the scouts for a park though- but sometimes it's full. The trick is to get there really early - like 8am - but who wants to do that when they're on holidays?

Exactly! i get up at 8am :( sucks now. But i don't mind, because Noosa has a Farmer's Market now, and I stay in Noosa, so i'm really happy to go to that instead. Eumundi Markets are waaay more than just food .. if anything they are mostly non-food items .. so there's still a reason to go there ... but just not as much anymore. (for myself).

We live on the Sunshine Coast from 1974 - 1999 and watched the Eumundi market grow from a hippy market to what it is today. I can't say I was mad keen on just all the hippy type products, but now it is just another place to buy more possessions. It is too big and somehow it's lost it's friendly community atmosphere. Too many tourists and too many stall holders charging too much and wanting to make a quick buck. These days we live in Brissy and rarely go there. I think the last time was with the grand children in September 2010.

I agree with your Pattieone with the prices! I go there once a year when I visit my folks .. and I was there a few months ago .. and was silently surprised how expensive some of the things are in there, now :( It's got a good selection .. but I'm not as spending near enough money there as I used to ... when it was more competitively priced.

Shame :(
