How hard is it to find somewhere to rent?

I wish the government would do something to fix the housing shortage in Sydney. It is so stressful to find a rental property in Sydney. I also think as I am getting into my 50's it will be improssible for me to rent in the near future in Sydney as it is too expensive. They need to build public housing for the baby boomers. Over 50's public housing is needed otherwise there will be a lot of homeless people or people living in remote towns where there is no work. It is a real problem that is being igored by government.

Biggest drop in Sydney property for lease is really a down turn in real estate market in Sydney. I agree with Makat hopefully government can do something to fix it.

It's going to get worse unfortunately... record number of migrants coming in over the next few years (to make up for the borders shutting during the pandemic) and naturally there will be a lot of competition for rentals.

If it's any consolation, this all may be offset a little bit by reduced interrest rates expected to come in 2024.
