Auburn

"A convenient place to live.. but could be better.."

I have been living in Auburn for well over 16 years. I have personally experienced the increase in the amount of people (Fujian Chinese, Indians/Bangladesh) during the past 5 years or so as well as seeing a dramatic increase in residential and retail developments (Auburn Central, Red Yard). I truly believe Auburn will become a much better place if some people aren't so dirty and show some love..

Train services to the City come often with both the Campbelltown lines and Western Line servicing Auburn which takes around 25 minutes to get to Central on average. Driving to the city is a cool 25-30 minutes by hopping onto the M4, however traffic jams are the big issues here during peak hours (very Sydney-like anyways..)

In terms of livability, it is very livable with convenient access to cheap Asian groceries (compared to Flemington, Parramatta etc..) as well as Woolworths, Coles and Big W. Banks include Commonwealth, ANZ, Westpac. It also has its own RSL club, Soccer club, Hospital, Police station, Fire station, Ambulance station and also... has its fair share of Kebab shops and Chinese as well as Nepalese and Thai.. A few minutes drive will take you to DFO as well as Nike and Adidas Factory outlets. Reading Cinemas and Fitness First is just across the road, with other well-known outlets just down Parramatta Road as well (Rebel sports clearance, McDonald's, Krispy Kremes, Harvey Norman, Domayne, Victoria's Basement outlet, MSY (computer-related), Home Mega Mall, Auburn Power Centre (Dicksmith Electronics, Anaconda, Ten-pin bowling), Bunnings x 2, Supercheap Auto, Autobarn, Hungry Jack's and don't forget COSTCO soon!! woot! Goodbye Woolies/Coles)

Recreational offerings include several parks, Auburn swimming centre, Olympic Park facilities (Aquatic Centre, Driving Range, Acer Arena, ANZ Stadium, Badminton, Skating rink etc), Golf course, Tennis Centres, hectare of netball courts/ soccer fields and Botanical Gardens.. Is there anything that is missing...?

I truly believe you can buy 'almost' anything within a few minutes of driving distance around Auburn.. But for now, I'll just continue to sit and observe what this humble suburb will turn into within the next few years as it's been predicted to boom with people...
