Truganina

"Perfect if you are looking for somewhere cheap, otherwise move on"

Truganina is a great cheap place to have a home, here you can afford that house that looks great and would cost far too much to build elsewhere, there however stops the benefits once you move it's all down hill. Luckily I don't have to deal with the traffic like I had to in the past which is ridiculous, trying to get to the freeway is a 30-45 min exercise and then to sit in Westgate in traffic further adds to the fun.

Schools are a joke, most are around an ATAR median score of 28 except for westbourne which even after paying extra fees the best you get is 32 which is hardly worth it. Primary schools aren't much better with schools consistently below NAPLAN averages dotted close by. It is appalling that the education of students in this area is this poor the outcomes of these kids are mostly trade and part time/casual roles which lead to poor health and employment outcomes further perpetuating the issues of this area. Those who know about this will know what I am talking about.

The community spirit is non existent, from the people who refuse to tie up their dogs when they go for a walk even thought they clearly have no control over their pets, to the rampaging hoons on motorbikes up and down the creek paths. There is an abundant community of peoples of Muslim and Indian affiliations and everyone else feels like the outsiders, the mosque on Sayers road blatantly ignores parking restrictions ensuring during large festivals, cars are parked up and down Sayers road for kilometres and causing ridiculous scenes.

Internet is third world slow, after months of pushing and pushing I managed to get ADSL 1 which is poor at best, those lovely buffering circles in YouTube are just fantastic. Repeated requests for cable and ADSL 2 are met with timelines which never eventuate.

I am still living here but desperately looking for a way out, selling up will leave you with the realisation that you will get a poor price to buy anywhere else so you feel trapped, avoid this place if you can.
