"Breath of fresh air"

Moving here from Western Sydney was seemless and the people are so easy to get along with. Rental values are very good and there is a good availability of resources in town (such as banks, supermarkets etc).

Great for

  • Neighbourly spirit
  • Cheap cost of living
  • Very pretty

Not great for

  • Jobs hard to get
  • No public transport
  • Minimal eating out

"The country less than 3 hours from Sydney"

I was there as a teenager and it was safe but there was little for us to do. Housing is cheap and people are nice but with that nagging aspect of being in your business. There is one pub, one general store, one school (with around 30 students) and one little church. It is 15 minutes from Cessnock which has two high schools (Go for Mount View High) and plenty of supermarkets, restaurants and pubs.

Great for

  • Safe
  • Neighbourly spirit
  • Cost of living

Not great for

  • Unemployment
  • Transport

"Good for families."

It has good schools (such as the Academically selective Penrith High as well as the Performing arts high school Nepean High) and good shopping (like High street and the Westfield). Property along the river is lovely and the cost of living is very low. The are some good pubs and good restaurants and bars. Aside from this is the lesser aspect, which is minimal but still present, of unsocial behaviour such as graffiti and intimidation but if you are a bit clever you can easily avoid it. Some areas are better than others, and generally west of Parker street and south of High street are good areas.

Great for

  • Cost of living
  • Shopping and eating out

Not great for

  • Unsocial behaviour
  • Employment

"Green and leafy, but you pay for it."

A good suburb in the inner north of Canberra. easy access to Dickson shops which has a Woolies, a post office and a bunch of specialty stores. Also near the "Chinatown of Canberra" which is also in North Dickson. Public transport is close by and there are playing fields really close.
But it is an expensive suburb but it is lovely to live in. I have never felt unsafe walking from work at night. An older suburb and the housing reflects this.

Great for

  • Lots of trees
  • Close to shops

Not great for

  • Very expensive
  • Housing is older

Who lives here?

  • Families with kids
