Glenroy

"Changing, but still long way off"

We bought here in 2016 in the ANA estate. This is a suburb in transition, however, it is a long way off still. Where we bought is clearly the better part of Glenroy with access to the Moonee Ponds trail right behind us, a new park down the road (on the way to the aforementioned trail) and what relatively friendly neighbours. The station at Glenroy has great parking and is reasonably short in the distance to the city. On the flip side of that - it doesn't feel safe, in particular around the station precinct. There are a lot of homeless/beggars around Coles and the station. The Hadfield side of the tracks and above the Vline tracks are not places I'd like to be after dark. We prefer to drive the additional 10-15 minutes to go to Coburg North Coles rather than the Glenroy one because A) the quality of the store is better and B) the clientele in Glenroy Coles is just riff-raff (in the main). To put it bluntly, Glenroy will eventually be another story where middle-high income earners price people out of the area (similar to what's happened all over Melbourne), however, it's still a long way off that.

What's wrong with the Hadfield side of the tracks, if I may ask? We are looking at a few places for sale next to the Golf Course, and the area looks quite nice, but we are not from the area. Are you able to give details?

We live right near the golf course and its a great spot. Halfway between Hadfield shops but also close enough to walk to Glenroy Station and shops (depending on where you are looking). I have never had an issue with safety - there is crime everywhere.

Glenroy is huge and varies greatly NSWE. The area nearest Pascoe Vale is one of the best - a few newer estates here (1990's+ - also adjacent to the Golf Course, this zone is like a cul de sac and contains beautiful spacious and more modern homes compared to the rest of Glenroy - and also well landscaped front gardens. Very safe feel and also borders Westbreen Primary school with an amazing upgraded outdoor play area. The choicest area of Glenroy. Plus the addition of easy access to the great fresh food along West Street.

Hadfield side of the suburb is fine. We bought in Maude Ave just up from the golf course and its great, tho traffic on Hilton Rd is a bit of a rat run. I walk the streets all around there with my baby and dog and never feel unsafe. Library, community centre good fresh food shopping in West Street
